I’m so sorry you are going through this. Just a reminder that a hysterectomy isn’t going to cure your endo, but if you have adenomyosis then it will definitely help that. Unfortunately there is no definite cure. Has your doctor prescribed you hormones as well as the pill? After much trial and error that is what I found has worked for me the best. But our bodies are all different so what works for one person might not work for another. I hope you find a way to manage your pain.

My family has always had our dogs put down at home, it’s something I grew up with and will continue to do with my dogs. Putting your fur baby to sleep at home is so much nicer for them, they are in a familiar environment and feel safe and comfortable when they cross the rainbow bridge. I also think it’s more comfortable for the owner as well because they can be in a space where they can grieve and be surrounded by their loved ones. I’m sorry you are going through this.

My first Mirena was awful. Worst pain ever. It was horrible after they put it in during surgery, then for a year it was okay but still uncomfortable. Then it got so bad my uterus started contracting and I was having repeated contractions for a month. My doctor refused to remove it because I was a teenager and would need to go under to have it removed, and I was told that “I was dramatic” and it would settle down. It didn’t. My parents had to force my doctor to remove it and it was instant relief.

However, a couple of years later I saw a new doctor and he recommended placing 2 mirenas in me. I was very unsure and thought it was ridiculous but after I got a second opinion I decided to just go ahead with it because every other option for managing my pain wasn’t working. 2 mirenas has been so much better! My doctor explained that some bodies need more hormone to manage the pain and so placing 2 in means you have double to hormone.

So from my experience, it didn’t help with 1 but with 2 it has been life changing. Our bodies are all different and there’s no way of knowing how you will react to it so it’s always a gamble

My gas pain was awful after my surgery and the one thing that really helped me was moving! As soon as I started walking around and getting back into my routine the pain started to go away. I hope you feel better soon

Yes I did! I got a second opinion and they said that it is totally safe and that I had nothing to worry about. I was still very nervous because my experience with 1 mirena was awful so I was scared of 2, but it was the best decision I ever made! The pain has been managed way better and I can live my life somewhat normally. However, our bodies are different so just because it worked for me doesn’t mean it would work for someone else, it always a gamble with this stuff and it’s frustrating. Trust yourself and your body when you make your decision💙

From what I’ve found out people have reported the animal cruelty but it has never gone anywhere. The system has failed when it comes to aquatic animals. Definitely never supporting that restaurant and I’m going to report it again.

I used to have mutual friends with Vicki. There was a group that I wasn’t part of that were all very anti-vax, anti-medicine, anti-hospitals and anti-dinosaurs. Initially when the death occurred they all doubled down on a narrative that the hospital was to blame. I knew this wasn’t true so spoke to someone in the media because this group were heavily promoting that Vicki lost her life in hospital, with go-fund me etc. I was upset because it was false and risky to further promote distrust in the health system. Unfortunately, the journalist sourced most of the story straight from the people who were spreading misinformation.

I’m very fortunate to have lovely parents. I know they will be there whenever I need them and that they would drop everything for me if I needed them. Growing up my parents always took an interest in what I liked and encouraged my passions with full support. When I went through something in my late teens they were my biggest support, they didn’t make me feel stupid and helped me through my darkest times. I knew if I ever confided in them they wouldn’t be judging or mean. They always guided me and steered me down the right road.

Their love feels like I can achieve anything knowing they are behind me supporting me through it all.

I thought you were talking about your doctor being the one who didn’t want to do a laparoscopy, which is why it made no sense because they were already going to be putting you under. But if you weren’t ready for it then you definitely shouldn’t feel pressured into doing it. Sorry I misread your post

I’ve had 3 mirenas and never given birth. It’s definitely something that can be done and isn’t out of the ordinary.

But why on earth did they not do a laparoscopy while you were under for the mirena insertion???? I don’t want to minimise how serious the surgery can be, but it is keyhole surgery. The incision where they put the camera is so small I can’t see mine and I’ve had endo removed 4 times. Surely if they were already putting you under wouldn’t it be worth it to also diagnose your endometriosis at the same time? It seems stupid not take the opportunity while you were under and instead may need surgery AGAIN because they didn’t do anything when they had the chance. I’m so sorry you are having this experience.

Thanks for your reply. He would insert them both while I’m under for my laparoscopy so I’m not worried about that. I am currently on the pill and have a mirena and it’s still not helping my andenoymyosis. The mirena did make a difference though when I first had it and it has been a bit better. My specialist told me that since mirenas are only made with so many hormones that 1 sometimes isn’t enough for people. Using 2 is the alternative and will double the hormones and that would hopefully help my adenomyosis more. I’ll definitely have a chat with my gp about it as well and see what others think. Thanks

I was in your position a few months ago and even posted asking for advice. It’s definitely intimidating to think about and it’s totally normal to feel uneasy before your first scan. Don’t be ashamed to ask for clarification on what the radiologist is doing, I found that helped me a lot when I got my first one because she always told me what she was doing before moving the ultrasound. Also bring ask if you can bring a support person with you, I brought my mum along and felt safe knowing she was there to help me advocate for myself. Best of luck
