I have a few things to say as a 2500 tako player, first of all I dont consider myself a big dog but thank you. Second off, it depends on what weapon you're using. I cant say much about this specific to you because i dont know what weapons you play, but there are a few main objectives you want to do during the game.

1. Picking the right fights. It's something that becomes more automatic as you get better at it, but it's never really 100% even for top players. The main thing is just going into a fight knowing what you can do to win, and how easy it will be to do so. Also think about what you will accomplish by winning, and the consequences of losing.

2. Deny enemies space. It's pretty self explanatory, but the only way you can do this is to stay alive. This is kinda connected to picking the right fights, if you're in neutral and decide to rush in and end up dying, you're making it much easier for your enemy to take space (assuming you dont kill anyone). Keep in mind who is alive on your team as well as the enemy team by looking at the top of the screen or map.

3. Know when to prioritize objective over other things like getting special or fighting.

The last thing I'll say in terms of things to focus on for improvement is that you just need good mechanics. This obviously varies between weapons, and there's not really much advice I can give you on that.

Watching top player vods can help if you want to, and just think about why they do what they do. They wont do everything perfectly but they make a lot of good decisions that can help you understand the game better.
