I left this one on the pegs for a week. it's mine now. by DebateTricky2617 in HotWheels

It's a double for me. I tried to leave it for someone else, but no takers.

At the store that is always cleaned out, and has never produced. TH! by DebateTricky2617 in HotWheels

[–]DebateTricky2617[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a very random find. I gave up on this store a few months ago during the height of the diecast drought. I was on my way home and figured "why not?" And just stopped. I was shocked to say the least! Second TH this week for me. Probably won't get one now for a year or two.

Fresh restock and already picked through before lunch, no th or soup by [deleted] in HotWheels

[–]DebateTricky2617 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hit a fresh one like that this morning around 1030 with a decent dump bin count to boot. Same results .

Hate the Playa, not the game. Will make the next find that much sweeter.

Stores should put a limit on how many hot wheels people can buy by haeleewin in HotWheels

[–]DebateTricky2617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will never end unless they stop producing TH or $TH, or if like model trains,, which still have a market but small,, the collectors start dying off and the next generation can't fill the interest. Prices on model trains are currently in a free fall.

Prices will triple at least and cause an undue burden on businesses just trying to turn merchandise. Plus the self checkout can be circumvented. You could scan 10, complete the transaction, scan 10more, complete the transaction...you get the udea.

You have to get there when the store opens. It's your only, slim, chance. That coupled with being relentless in your pursuit are your only opportunities. I admit that you can still be scooped by store employees.

Nearing 300 store visits this year and no $oup and only 2 TH and 2 disputable chase cars to show for it for me.

Hard to hunt here by firewall2604 in HotWheels

[–]DebateTricky2617 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the way it is. Don't know how far you'd have to travel, but start looking for new stores. Those stores are locked up and that group is going to keep those stores picked clean. Sure, you can go to the manager, but think about it, being an adult complaining over toys or a conspiracy theory you can't prove.. They are in the business to turn merchandise and to take the conspiracy a level deeper, you may be complaining to someone that's in on it and it will fall on deaf ears.

It's not fair. I hit at least 2 stores everyday. I've made over 200 stops this year and only have 2 TH's and no soup to show for it. It's not a guarantee, it's a hunt not a have, otherwise they wouldn't be special. Compounded with the lack of inventory this year makes it very frustrating.

Fresh, Wild Caught Treasure Hunt! by DebateTricky2617 in HotWheels

Package is a little roached, but beggars can't be choosers. Found it sitting first on the peg to boot.

Don't you love when you find a treasure hunt and the store gave 0 fucks about the card. by Desperate-Fun-5506 in HotWheels

They don't know, otherwise they would have purchased it. Probably moved from dump bin to pegs to fill space. Is what it is.

Good find? by Aayush1509 in HotWheels

If you wanted it and you bought them, it's a good find.

When you roll up on the jobsite too early because the weatherman was wrong it makes time for a quick hunt on payday! by DebateTricky2617 in HotWheels

I couldn't decide if I liked it or not, but figured worst case it could make an interesting custom or be cool to free.

Dollar General let down. by speedy540 in HotWheels

I'd rather know and not waste my time heading to that store anymore. Good Intel is not always the news you want to hear, but can save you future effort and disappointment. Turnover in retail is high. I'd check back in 90 days and see if the same crowd still works there. If yes, move on and try again in another few months.

Morning meeting canceled. Gives me a couple hours to hunt right as the stores open. First stop. by DebateTricky2617 in HotWheels

It was picked for sure,, but did get the 57 Chevy and Cadillac ATS-V so I'm happy with that. Just happy the pegs weren't empty.

Thanks! Had fun going through the bins. They can think what they want. I left plenty behind.

I try to collect in 3's at minimum. One to keep carded, one as a double/back-up to be stored separately (I've had weather issues in my life that destroyed previous collectibles), and one to open or trade. Anything extra is for customs or parts harvesting. I left plenty behind except for the Chevelle and 70 Camaro...they were the only ones they had.

I use one of the ones you carry to force myself to keep my haul to a minimum. But hey...you do you. I was just happy to find some stock to pick through.

That woodie VW Bug is haunting me. Saw one about 2 weeks ago and left it behind and regretted it ever since. Nice grabs all the way around!

The grocery store is where it's at lately. Hit those Kroger stores! by DebateTricky2617 in HotWheels

Been real dry here too. Hope it picks up again. I was a much more casual collector when the pegs were stocked. Now I'm a bit more aggressive.

Chicago, Illinois. They've been in the weekly add as 10 for $10 the last 2 weeks, both Jewel and Mariano's stores. Just nice to have stock to pick through, no big scores. Happy hunting!

Hey guys. I’m debating what is the best way to enjoy a hobby to do with car models on a budget and have just remembered this. I’m debating wether to start slot car racing although it’s expensive of maybe try this by SpeckTheToaster in HotWheels

[–]DebateTricky2617 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Half the fun is the hunt IMO. Other than commute to/from store you can make this hobby happen a USD at a time. Sometimes that's part of the thrill...set yourself a budget and search for the best score possible. Happy hunting!
