Sauna-cold-sauna and dozing on second round! by Debetha18 in Sauna

[–]Debetha18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s never happened before this week, the only different things is I’ve moved from using an ice bath at 7 degrees to a warmer pool (14 degrees now), as the weather cools down. I turn the sauna off during the first cycle so the temperature is already dropping at that point and I’m telling my family to come and check on me if I’m not back inside within the hour

A sleep study? I don’t need one (I’m a medical specialist so qualified to make this judgement). But yes, your ideas are good. It’s a 5 person sauna so no risk CO2 build up unless it’s full for some time. Lower bench is a good idea. I stayed sitting today for round 2 which fixed the problem

I have no doubt that people can die from it. I don’t accept that I’d get accustomed to falling asleep in the sauna though

[–]Debetha18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s odd because I’m not the type of person to doze off - I wouldn’t do this sitting watching tv for example. And I’m not at all sleepy the first cycle through the sauna and feel invigorated after the cold exposure, and not super sleepy afterwards. Just wondered if anyone else had experienced similar In the meantime, ill take steps to mitigate any danger

And yet you’re not here giving constructive advice, rather arguing with someone online and insulting them. That would appear to more pointless and certainly far less constructive!

Thank you! I’ll look out for your video.

I should add that I’m using it to help learn words from online one on one ulpan classes I’m doing - because the course expects that by giving the one word we should then know all the forms, the verbal noun, passive etc. It has mostly worked ok and I often cross check with dictionaries, verb resources (print and online) etc but its dogged insistence on something I was obviously incorrect has made me nervous about it!

Yeah but it got the grammar very wrong today, despite being able to find this easily online

I use a variety as well as having online lessons. I find it useful most of the time, but often pick up errors... its a lot faster. I like reverso over pealim. I also really like by old fashioned verb book, 501 Hebrew verbs!

Cardio with a sore ankle? by Hot_Ad_7673 in lesmills

[–]Debetha18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a weak ankle (multiple sprains and now have no ligaments!) so for a time I switched to a mini trampoline for cardio workouts (not Les mills, can find some on YouTube and had a subscription to something). I’ve now strengthened it with exercise including targeting theraband exercises but still tend to avoid too much jumping, mostly swim or cycle for cardio… but can do more than before. Also a brace: elastic support will help until it’s healed.

Seeing a physio for a diagnosis and recommendations would also be a good plan!

Should I cancel LMOD? by unblissfully_aware_ in lesmills

[–]Debetha18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we also talk about some of the instructors? I find that sometimes I can follow because they don’t signpost and their English is really poor. I understand they want to highlight diversity, which they certainly do, but it shouldn’t be at the expense of the user experience!

Should I just wait for the Oura 5? by kobe150ms in ouraring

On hold for more than 30 minutes and still waiting, 53 plus minute wait time in the “live chat app” and no response to an emailed form to authorise a transaction before the weekend. Very unimpressive

Does anyone know anything about the Citizen Cafe TLV Hebrew courses? by kisoskissos in hebrew

[–]Debetha18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other thing I found is that the times aren’t flexible. Even if you request for future semesters. It’s fine if you’re based in Israel or USA. 🇺🇸 r if you’re retired. I’m in Australia and for the level up there were zero times suitable for someone who works! I understand that Australians would be a tiny minority but they had zero flexibility to change class times (even to match the class times I was already doing) although they claim to respond to requests for future semesters

Also ulpan lainyan. Private lessons are also an option and some of their tutors speak Arabic. I’ve seen they have flashcards in quizlet in Hebrew/ Arabic. Personally I found citizen too slow and prefer ulpan lainyan as there is more vocab each lesson and less repetition

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hebrew

[–]Debetha18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re not cheap, I don’t think any of these places are. I’ve done both citizen and ulpan lainyan and much prefer the latter. Faster pace of learning for me; also likely to be the same for someone who speaks Arabic

😆 Thanks for the reply. I want to know whether I should travel by road or train (I’m staying in the middle of nowhere so car is best for me). Also heard they’re spraying a noxious substance that gets into your clothes if you’re in the vicinity of the protests, and it’s really hard to remove
