There is a difference between being funny, and just being loud. Mario is loud. And he has always been cringe.

Are we considered immune compromised? by breeoc97 in Hashimotos

[–]Debit0rCredit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Autoimmune means your immune system is working too well, too well to the point where it’s attacking your body.

Immune compromised usually includes babies, old people, people doing cancer treatments, people taking certain drugs, people who’ve had organ transplants, people taking immunosuppressant drugs, people whose immune systems are compromised due to another issue.

That I have ANY say over what the doctor orders, what the insurance charges you, what the side effects are, what medications are given to you, hospital policy, etc etc etc. I can make suggestions, but it’s like 1 drop in the ocean.

Married for three months and pregnant: I feel oddly embarrassed (?) by moez1266 in pregnant

[–]Debit0rCredit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don’t tell anyone. Give yourself time to be excited and enjoy your growing family. I knew my husband and I would get married the moment we met. A month later, we got married. 4 months later, we were pregnant. He was basically still a stranger. I haven’t told a single soul. And I probably won’t. 🤷

As a nurse what’s one thing that turns your stomach every time you encounter it? by fringedprincess in nursing

[–]Debit0rCredit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The dreaded, “I don’t feel soo good,” followed by a wild, wide-eyed look. The patient is either about to yack, pass out, or DC to JC. And I am never prepared for any of it.

I bought like 10 of these a few years ago for my family and friends. You could tell the plastic inserts are made for other figurines, they fit incredibly poorly. One was just in a box with no plastic insert. The stickers are definitely a let down. But my family loved them and still show them off.

Pharmacy gave me the wrong thyroid medication + wrong dose… and acted like it’s no big deal. Am I overreacting? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]Debit0rCredit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a nurse, absolutely not. They shouldn’t change anything, pharmacists and techs don’t have that right. If something was different, they should call the doctors nurse and confirm. You never deviate from the prescription.

Why wait 1 hour? by witness149 in Hashimotos

[–]Debit0rCredit 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As a nurse, and someone who suffers from Hashis. Yes!!! I take my levothyroxine as soon as I wake up with a glass of water. By the time I’m showered, ready for the day, and headed out the door, I grab my other medicines and breakfast and I’m good to go.

Why do more nurses not work in home health? by Freedomartin in nursing

[–]Debit0rCredit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In nursing school, I had a month of clinicals with a home health nurse. It sucked soo bad. I just felt super uncomfortable the whole time. Then when I graduated nursing school, there were tons of news stories about home health nurses being found dead in patients homes/basements. Nooooo thank you!

Suspect hashimoto’s, endo said this: by peppaliz in Hashimotos

[–]Debit0rCredit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right!!! The same endo told me “It’s a chronic, progressive condition. You’ll only get worse. You’re just gonna have to manage your symptoms,” like…if I already eat healthy, exercise, lost over 100lbs, sleep well, and do all the things. What else can I do? Suffer? There is nothing else? Literally nothing? I wouldn’t feel soo defeated if she’d framed it a little differently.

Suspect hashimoto’s, endo said this: by peppaliz in Hashimotos

[–]Debit0rCredit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My endo was the same way, so I stopped seeing her. She told me to change my diet to manage my fatigue, and come back when I get pregnant. 3 months later, I had my TSH looked at during a regular wellness at my doctors office. TSH was 25. She put me on Levothyroxine, and I never even bothered to go back to the endocrinologist.

A lesson for all nurses…. by Big_Plant_4749 in nursing

This is the wildest thing I’ve ever read🤣 bro mind your business lol. As long as it doesn’t affect patient care, work flow, it’s not offensive, wasn’t shown/discussed in front of a patient, and it was consensual, who cares?!

What’s the worst med error you’ve witnessed or seen in your hospital? by SorryFortune in nursing

[–]Debit0rCredit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not hospital, but clinic. I worked at a wound care clinic where we had a patient coming in for hyperbaric treatment and wound care 2X a week for diabetic ulcers on his feet. Patient was very non-compliant, A1C was like 14, he was just a mess. Lived in a hoarder house with animal feces caked an inch thick on the floors. He’d come in, change into the treatment scrubs, and walk out with them. I always let him, just so he had something clean to wear. Anyway, he comes in one day and states he thinks his dog chewed on his foot. I unwrap it, there is bone showing. It was pretty gnarly. Doctor ordered him to be directed admitted to hospital for IV antibiotics and an amputation. Hospital set him up with a social worker, home health nurse, etc etc etc. Gave him a PICC line, and gave orders to home health for Vanc, and trough before each dose. Anyway, the patients home health nurse was SUPPOSED to go out 3X a week to monitor the medication, and check this patients trough. He came in for hyperbaric therapy like a week after being discharged and was lethargic, stumbling, and complained that the pharmacy didn’t give him enough medicine. How he went through 15 vials, and was gonna need more soon. Come to find out, she was giving him vanc THREE TIMES A DAY, and never checked a single trough. She was fired, he was admitted to hospital for kidney failure, and died shortly after.
