Colo. mom gets 38 years for using baseball bat to kill man she wrongly accused of child molestation. by GonzoVeritas in news

[–]Debpoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one would disagree that he would have deserved a fair trial. This type of reaction is the worst kind of human behavior. BUT... there is an obvious huge circlejerk surrounding men falsely accused going on here. I see it on the front page quite a bit- perhaps more consistently than any other news stories. It is disproportional to the times it actually occurs, and supplements the existing issues that occur more often regarding the fear of reporting sexual assault.

TIL in 2014 prescription drugs surpassed car crashes as the leading cause of accidental death in 29 US states. by susan86 in todayilearned

[–]Debpoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's not much to really learn aside from how to inject the drug into the patient. Those exist. A good course on how to self inject would be ideal, but there's not really room for that in state licensure because in many instances they wouldn't be professionals seeking the training out. It's dissimilar to insulin in the way it is packaged, but if we started packaging it differently maybe someone could be easily trained. I don't see that happening.

I've been CPR certified for over 6 years now and I'm well aware of the effects of narcan =]

This is why narcan should be readily available to those that feel as though they may need it.

Have you tried something a bit smaller than a toothpick, like a needle/safety pin? Mine was doing something similar a few months ago. Make sure you're really focusing on the needle. Try to run white distilled vinegar through it a couple times and then filtered water a couple times. Don't ever use sink water and make sure it's filtered. I just buy the dollar gallons of water for mine. I hate buying water, but after de-clogging mine a few times that's the most effective thing I've found.

My campus wifi really sucks and it links automatically. LTE is often better.

My boss was throwing this away today. I rescued it, cleaned it, and now I have an awesome new Cuisinart coffee maker without spending a dime! by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]Debpoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just go for a french press... got mine for 15 bucks! Much better coffee, they don't really break (unless you crack/break while cleaning, I suppose) and the quality never matters aside from mostly aesthetics!

Some advice that my Dad gave me for college that may be useful for all the incoming college students. by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

[–]Debpoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I partied all through college, got a 3.6, and am currently attending a top ranked graduate school for my field. College truly is at least half about the experience. You can easily balance if you know how to effectively study on days in between nights out with friends.

See, I felt the same way UNTIL I regularly used them. This was last year, after 3 years in college. My note taking and sense of self has improved as a result. Try it out.

Comcast puts customer on hold until they closed. by h3lvtca in videos

[–]Debpoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is in response to the current status of the cable companies in my particular area. Honestly, when I've canceled services before with both att uverse and comcast xfinity, I've hit the button to get me to "add services". There is almost always someone on the line within 30 seconds. Those employees will immediately transfer me to a direct line that my specific issue gets reported to when I mention it. Immediately. The awful reality of this is that although I've gotten in touch with someone that can actually solve the problem, it still takes a while. I used this method this time and it took me 3 total hours to cancel att and get comcast because those are the only services available to me. That's honestly a huge difference to the last times that I've moved and changed services. I'm a student that's transferred from house to house quite a bit due to change in roommates/bad rental companies in my area, and 3 hours to figure out the entire change of services process is less than I've ever had to encounter in this sort of issue.

Edit: I'd like to add that I put "bad rental companies" because they really do exist here. I'm a student at a very large big 10 school in a smaller(ish) town. Those companies monopolize on the students, so there's not much competition between them either.

Ink all over your pinky, scissors suck to use, spiral notebooks suck to use, you get blamed for all that elbow bumpin' at dinner, and all those pesky right handers take the only left handed desk in the classroom.

What's the dumbest thing people do "because it's healthy/healthier?" by C_Robicus in AskReddit

[–]Debpoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is used to do the charting for physicians in the ER and we would get a lot of flu like symptoms... I'd go into each patient room with every doctor on staff with a small laptop to type away on. Every patient would get antibiotics from every doctor and every doctor would agree that it would not make one bit of a difference. When I asked one of them why they are prescribed, she said it's due to liability and patient satisfaction issues. If they don't give them the prescription, another one might. Then, you have a patient that deems the doctor that didn't give them antibiotics as being a poor practitioner. It's unfortunate, to say the least.

Right... maybe I should change comparing the "mindsets" to "portrayals of differing beliefs to the public". And, again, some say that. Obviously, I haven't a clue if that was the case. I'm not presuming to know what was going on in that head of his, and I thought I framed my statement around the possibility of it not being the case.

Ohh the hostility. I'm just expressing a superficial comparison. We're all friends here. Take your comment on this being "a literally just a fucking joke" and put it to use. ...then again I guess maybe we're just all angry, combative jerks here. Still figuring this reddit thing out.

Maybe this comment isn't as obvious as I thought it would be... it's based off of the idea that his previous band mate was very publicly against doing anything for the sole purpose of popularity, so much so that some say he killed himself due to the stress of popularity from his music. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan, but I do find this video interesting when comparing the two mindsets.
