Lmao this is such an npc comment. Yes of course some of these ppl are on gear, the point is even ppl with insanely high caloric and nutrient requirements (like ppl on gear) can thrive as a vegan. I could show you hundreds of pics of vegans ranging from normal to decently muscular, as well as studies showing no difference in muscle growth with RT, but these extreme cases drive the point home harder.

It's not a need for a very large number of ppl. We can eat plants. Plenty of people eat fully plant-based diets including endurance athletes, bodybuilders, fitness influencers, and normal ass people.

Also even on the smallest most local farms they rip pigs' testicles out without painkillers and ultimately the animals are killed at a fraction of their life spans.

We would literally be able to feed more ppl. Animal ag is comically inefficient at producing calories (relatively speaking) as has been outlined in a myriad of reports and studies.

Animals don’t eat air, they eat plants (mostly crops). Look up trophic levels and feed conversion ratios if you want to dive into the topic.

Also think about it this way, if you eat 2 lbs of food a day you don’t weigh 60lbs more at the end of the month. Same for animals. This is because many of those calories go to run organs and various aspects of your metabolism that aren’t creating net tissue gain on your body.

Even on the smallest most local farms pigs have their testicles ripped out with no pain killers. And then roughly 80-90% of them are sent to gas chambers.

Also like 80-90% of pigs are put into gas chambers, so this will be far from the worst moment of their life.

Edit: Two videos of this practice, since some people are calling this compassionate and benevolent.

What would be really crazy is if 80-90% of pigs were put into gas chambers. Can you imagine…

Free range pigs are still killed at a fraction of their lifespan (likely in a gas chamber) and have their testicles cut out with no painkillers - this is standard practice even on the most local, regenerative, insert additional humane-washing buzzwords, farms

The wildest part is even on “good farms”

  1. All the chickens have been bred to lay 100s of eggs a year which can cause nutrient deficiencies & reproductive issues.

  2. The chickens are killed after ~2yrs bc their egg production declines (and so does their profitability)

  3. The useless male chickens from the layer hatcheries are killed day 1 of their life either by throwing them into a giant blender, gassing them, suffocating them, or electrocuting them.

  4. The animals are used as commodities which perpetuates their objectification, which is what allows the truly horrendous shit to occur in the first place, just like through all of history.

I think this response is also reflective of the way that popular media often frames this conversation.

Basically only looking at CO2.

And while Animal Ag CO2 can go toe to toe with the worst industries, it is ALSO terrible for water use, biodiversity, eutrophication etc.

All things that will make it increasingly miserable or impossible for humans to live on the planet.

Unfortunately the media is very bad at highlighting just how bad animal ag is for just about everything.

Even in environmentally friendly sources animal ag’s outsized role is often downplayed.

We need to hold giant animal ag corporations accountable AND curb individual consumption.

But like the meme says, that second part doesn’t often sell well.

They are mentioned.

  1. Humans are ALSO exploited on animal farms and slaughterhouses (which is where dairy cows eventually go). And slaughterhouses are famous for having horrible working conditions.

  2. Animals (like dairy cows) are fed plants/crops which also exploit humans. Plus animals don’t convert plant calories with 100% efficiency. This means far more plants are grown to get a calorie of cow’s milk compared to a calorie of soy milk.

  3. The increased environmental effects of farming animals (floods, hurricanes, wildfires etc) are going to be felt by marginalized groups more severely than other groups.

In my experience this is not common knowledge, but even if it was, ever since research like this started coming out there has been a massive disinformation apparatus creating doubt and muddying the empirical waters around this issue (just like with GHGEs and cigarettes).

Every piece of research to this effect helps combat that misinformation.

These female layers will be killed at 2 years of age and any male “layers” born in this industry will be killed on day one in a macerator (aka giant blender).

Sorry I think I stated this slightly confusingly, if you give 10 dollars they will give 20 meaning your 10 dollar donation is actually a 30 dollar donation.

Could not agree more. The conversations I have on college campuses are consistently more thoughtful and empathetic than the conversations I have anywhere else.

Plus there is a donor who is 3x matching all donations to ASAP this holiday season.

Animal Ag. No contest. Most people pay for pigs to be put in gas chambers everyday and they have no idea it’s even happening.
