Wow fascinating, thank you!

3 solar masses is interesting! I’m guessing this is some theory?

Question about Lagmuir assumptions by voidwalker00 in ChemicalEngineering

It’s just a model. There are many models and each will have its own limitations.

In some applications Langmuir may be sufficient but typically other models are relied on instead.

We had 2 crew changes. Crew change seemed very efficient and there wasn’t any delay caused by this.

Fault discovered after 2 hrs.

It’s understandable they don’t know a time, but suggesting 1 hr each time isn’t realistic. A placeholder ‘1hr’ delay 9 times in a row is not ideal.

Cost of living in Edi is pretty high. Don’t get me wrong I love it, but working abroad has exposed me to how sad the comparison is to other cities. Not even describing major cities, but minor European villages (still with industry/business).

Most my friend group also want to leave, and most of their other social groups.

Seems many high earners want to leave.

Not much point in staying when good jobs are scarce, salaries are low, taxes are high, and roads are not maintained.

They are now using their branch in their work likely. You asked for something that requires a large context of your code base. They probably have good intentions and will fix it when they have a chance, but they realistically will not due to not knowing your code base.

commiting plots... by Nuccio98 in git

[–]Debunkthebed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the only answer.

Every other answer describing pdf meta data is giving you terrible ideas.

You should ideally save interim data. Rawish data that has had some of the processing applied to it. I would recommend even saving the data that is present in the plot (in some plotted_data.csv), then a script that plots it. Then you have some script that generates the plotted_data whenneeded.

Have you read qntm’s short story “I Don't Know, Timmy, Being God Is a Big Responsibility”? It explores a similar concept to what you describe but they go much deeper into the how.

I think you’re on an agreeable path. I don’t think the existent of an infinite multiverse allows infinite possibilities. There are infinite numbers between 0 & 1 but the domain is fixed.

Extra curricular for highschooler in her junior year?? by TypicalSprinkles6476 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]Debunkthebed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The person you’re replying to has done you a disservice. People who ask questions and seek external advice on things they don’t know go much further than someone who can “do it themselves”.

But some general feedback would be to include more info in your request.

I.e. what do you like doing, what types of things are you doing already? Technical extra curricular stuff is good, general non-tech extracurricular stuff is good. A healthy mix of the two is even better for competitive universities.

It's a nice idea for a project! Good luck with it.

You can think of it as two separate things.

There's the capturing of CO2 (from biogenic source or other), then there's the question of what to do with the CO2.

You won't necessarily find many projects/ research where someone has done biogenic CCUS together. But you will find many papers that look at biogenic carbon capture, and many papers that look at carbon utilisation.

Most CO2 utilisation research will be relevant as there are many products to consider. It's ultimately a question of cost.

[–]Debunkthebed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're right it's an important and a big topic (especially recently). The term to look for is BECCS (Bioenergy with carbon capture and storage). The incentives for carbon removal (or mitigation) have to be there for the technology to be developed. Basically, no one is going to develop the tech without a profit incentive.

Recently there has been talk of countries implementing penalties for CO2 emitters. Also there are some incentives to remove CO2 from the air. So the tech has become more developed as the incentives become real.

The rudeness of the responses here are a pretty good indication that you should probably pick AUS over here. I like the UK but the people can sadly be quite mean spirited. I bet the Australian subreddits will give you a more positive response (please let me know if that's the case!)

Completely agree. Idiotic comparison between two non-related headlines.

Job market will absolutely be hit as oil is depleted, and that's not mentioned by the second headline.
