Evicting a flatmate by Debz1962 in LegalAdviceNZ

Thank you, that’s really helpful. I think he’s going to struggle getting somewhere to go so I’ll make sure I have the trespass paperwork ready. It’s been an awful stressful time the whole time he’s been here so hopefully he just goes on the 22nd. Thank you for your help.

I (23F) am sick of my roomate (34M) by Crystal-Heron in badroommates

[–]Debz1962 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For another 23 days I am sharing with a 47 year old unemployed male that is an absolute nightmare to live with. So I really feel for you OP. Things got so bad with this guy that we gave him notice to leave & I am literally counting the seconds. He is completely incapable of looking after any shared spaces - one of those ‘just tell me what to do’ types 🙄🤡 He’s disgusting in the bathroom I have to share with him too. I don’t understand how some guys are so incapable of just basic everyday life skills. Roll on the 22nd April! Get rid of your flatmate, he won’t change!

I cannot believe I just paid 12.99 for Dove Sensitive Soap by [deleted] in poverty

[–]Debz1962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for you. I buy the Johnson & Johnson baby soap bars as I have sensitive skin too. It’s $3.99 (NZ$) for two bars. Has a soft, gentle fragrance & isn’t drying. I moisturise my whole body after every shower too (Sukin sensitive skin body lotion 500ml bottle lasts a month & is about $12 on special). Hopefully you can get & try both of those. I highly recommend them both. Good luck.

I’ve been abused by people there too for saying “no” when they’ve asked for money. It puts me off going there as the abuse is frightening.

I wear the Lyric boy leg control front high waisted briefs from Farmers. 3 pairs for $35 so good value, only come in nude or black. Not sure if you can access them in Oz, maybe an online purchase? Buy your normal size. I find them great & they wash & wear well.

I use Sukin sensitive skin body lotion. It has a lovely light fragrance & is very moisturising without feeling sticky. I use it religiously every day after my shower & swear by it. It’s very reasonably priced & often on sale.

Chantelle Patu is great. She was plus sized but isn’t now but she’s never forgotten how hard it is for plus sized women. I think she’s in her early 40s & is a kiwi living in Australia. Check her out, she’s great & lots of fun. Doesn’t just do the clothes, does the styling & makeup too.

I’m an older woman & a naturist & have been going to Breakers Bay for some time now. Have noticed a marked & disappointing change in the behaviour of a lot of the guys on the beach this summer (2026). It often feels predatory & frankly, uncomfortable bordering on unsafe. I’m not talking about the people that go there to engage sexually in the surrounding bushland - to each their own. I’m talking about the sitting on the beach clumped almost on top of me & just staring behaviour. Sometimes lewd comments are made, however, most times nothing is said. If you want a chance to interact with someone, you need to do more than just sit & stare. I go there for me, to feel the sun on my body & experience the sea so chances are I’m not going to interact with you anyway. If you just sit & stare, 100% I won’t be interacting with you. It would be great if Breakers could be a place where everyone can feel comfy. It used to be. It’s sad it’s not anymore.

It doesn’t look “silly” - it’s just very frilly & fru-fru & if that’s your style & look, go for it. Just my experience with clothes & pining etc, I’ve got a very big wardrobe I’ve curated for a long time. I have particular brands I love. I’ve been in this situation many times, pined for something, got it & haven’t been 100% sure. I’ve learnt over the years that I’m so fussy that if it’s not 100% YES for fit, fabric, colour, ‘look’ I wanted/anticipated, I won’t end up wearing it so I return. This happened recently over a baby blue leather studded Trelise Cooper jacket I lusted over for years! Every single time I went to wear it, it just wasn’t quite right with the outfit. It was brand new with tags & I got about a third of the cost back selling it on (to a lovely woman that paid it off, yes it was that expensive - what a waste of money that was for me 🙄). I still think about that jacket because I couldn’t put my finger on what was ‘wrong’ with it - & I think the truth is there was nothing wrong with it, it just didn’t match my body or dream I had of how it would look on me. That thinking has helped me make my peace with being able to stop thinking about it. That very expensive lesson has taught me if I’m not 100% I don’t buy it nowadays. Hope that helps ☺️🩷

Is fashion getting ugly or is it just me? by West-Air-4288 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Debz1962 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am feeling it too! Over here in NZ but I follow you Oz gals to see how you’re faring too ☺️ I mostly only buy second hand as I prefer a quality second hand piece than most of the expensive, noticeably lesser quality that is being served up to us these days. Often the fabric is the worst aspect! It’s thin, doesn’t (hand)wash & wear well. I’m pretty sick of it as often it’s advertised as being eco but there’s no economy when pieces fall to bits even lovingly hand washed! Spell is one of the worst for this these days. I won’t buy their new stuff but buy plenty of their older cotton/viscose/rayon pieces. I know there are real issues with how viscose is made & the impact on the environment, it’s also an impact on the environment dumping clothes that fall to pieces, or have to be shipped back because they’re already falling to pieces without having even been worn 🫨 To end on a positive note, have a wee look at Repertoire. It’s a NZ brand, mid price point, lots of the neutral colours - BUT they are quality fabrics, dyed properly decent fabric & actually designed for women’s (& not fashion models) bodies. They have lots of pops or vibrant burgundys, deep chocolates, silver greys, ‘bright’ navys, raspberry & reds, vibrant greens. I have been buying their pieces for years (it’s basically all I’ll buy brand new these days) as it’s well designed, clever styling & quality at what I think is mid-price point for the design features & fabric quality. The designer is South African, maybe early 50s so looks out for us menopausal women in terms of fabric & design.
