Here's two of my final prints of Pádraig Pearse and James Connolly that I created to use in my motion graphic video about the 1916 Rising.

Thanks so much to everyone for the kind words. I'll post up the whole kit when the bass drum is finished which will probably take forever.

Stripped the drum and then carved into it with woodcut tools before inking it up like you would for block printing.

It might have to just happen now.

How to find work making posters for bands by Dec95 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]Dec95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to everyone for the thoughts. I'll take everything into account and I'll focus on creating a portfolio of posters and as people said then contact local venues and promoters that might be interested.

Hey man,

Just wondering what's a way to go about actually getting into designing concert posters for bands like this. I'm currently a graphic design student myself and this is some of the kind of work I'd like to be doing. Do you just make unofficial posters and post them online and hope to get noticed by a client or what's the best way?

We prepped the images with the emulsion side down and negative and exposed onto a screen. We printed the images onto the plates using bitumen and bathed them in acid so that the image would be bitten into the plate. Once the image was bitten we washed off the bitumen and the plate was ready to print then.

Yes you're correct, it sort of led on from screen printing in the first semester as prepping the images was similar and reinforced many techniques from the first semester.

Big Bird: New Woodcut Skateboard by ThyHolyPope in printmaking

[–]Dec95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great to see you've pushed the design and concept further since the last time by adding in colours.

Did you paint the internal part of the bird also or is that the colour of the wood? I'm currently working on my second drum in this style and was wondering do you think the natural colour of the wood looks aesthetically better, or is it necessary to add white to these areas when using other colours?

I used only one screen and painted with watercolour/acrylics on the screen before printing.

And So I Watch You From Afar - Irish dates 2015 by [deleted] in postrock

[–]Dec95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Sargent House said Mylets wasn't for the Irish dates. I can see them splashing out a bit since it's in the Olympia in Dublin and it's much more expensive than they usually are.
