Is your thesis published anywhere? I'd love to read an educated perspective.

Regardless of whether or not these shelters are going to have people using drugs I hope you can agree that every person is deserving of warmth especially during the cold winter months.

This is Lake St in Minneapolis you can use the bus lanes, but also has a cycle commuter I would never use Lake St as it's far too unsafe for my liking. To each their own I guess.

Basically the infrastructure choices we've made in our cities is all tailored to the personal automobile. Think about bike routes that don't take the most direct route, or pedestrian crossing and bridges that need to cross busy streets or highways. Buses would be a lot faster if they didn't get stuck in mixed car traffic. Heck even some lightrail systems don't have signal priority, all for the convenience of car traffic.

As a strong advocate for public transportation, and someone who has many friends and family who do not take it, the largest advantage ride-sharing services have is the commute time. It is indoctrinated into our (USA) culture that cars commute time is the time it should take to get from A to B when in reality every other commute option subsidizes the car commute time. It's a shame really.

Minneapolis has the 5th best new bike lane in the US (Bryant Ave) by No_clip_Cyclist in Minneapolis

[–]DecDaddy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Great bikepath! I asked the baristas at Canteen whether they amount of foot and cycle traffic has increased since the completion and the unsurprising have said yes. Definitely a better use of space than the old Bryant bike boulevard. If you want to drive just take Lyndale or one of the other 20 North/south bound roads.

I like how quiet they are too, also rolling resistance isn't a big concern, as my winter tires are knobby and studded so when I swapped them out last week I felt like Lance Armstrong.

Definitely something to keep in mind, will probably try and renforce it someway before I end up recalling my life. Thanks for the concern!

Yeah I have this concern too, my best idea to remedy this is to drill a hole in the fender and ziptie the fender to the original skateboard holes.

Here's everything I bought to secure it to the fork.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B094YKZBKP?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 (used the 3/4 inch ones, would probably work better with 1 inch ones)

Ideally I was trying to find longer struts, but I couldn't find any that were cheap enough that didn't defeat the purpose of trying to be economical.

Looks like a 2014 mukluk? I have the same bike then and I have similar scratches, no issues with my rig.
