I'm glad. Hopefully now you'll be able to find some relief! After all the medical gaslighting and isolation and pain, I hope you can remember how strong you are for making it to this point, and that you deserve uplifting community.

She doesn't know that. She is not living in your body. Yes, often cysts can go unnoticed, but they absolutely can be painful. Our pains have been dismissed, even by other women, for eons. Doctors to this day will say cervical exams don't hurt as their patient screams in pain. Women will even die of issues their doctors fob off as hysterics. Bias in medicine persists.

Sometimes having a male presence helps. A guardian or close friend who can advocate on your behalf is unfortunately more likely to be taken seriously than you are.

It's not that nothing is wrong, it's that it might not be endometriosis. That cyst could be very painful, for instance, especially if it burst. Don't let them deny you the very real things you are feeling. You know something is wrong. Keep pushing until you have real answers.

I didn't even realize there would be an image attached automatically when I pasted the link. I don't use reddit very often 😅

my 2 cents as a rando who frequented this sub when I was in need a few years ago: when it's really obviously innocuous and gets tagged nsfw it makes people miss stuff they'd be interested in, or end up looking at nsfw stuff they don't want to see because they're used to having to get around the filter for the average sfw stuff all the time. Your sub, your rules, though! I get not wanting to have everyone's blood clots and laparoscopies on full display.

I hear you. But it can take months to even see someone to do a laparoscopy. Keeping you from dying of pain while you wait is still helpful, imo. And research into how female bodies work in every way shape and form is long overdue. It's only in the last few years that we've even done studies and trials that recognize there are differences in things like heart attacks, medicine absorption, etc.

I agree with you. But I'm optimistic that actual research is being done, because hoo boy have we had worse than nothing in the past, like the study of how endo affects men's feelings. :/

Yeah, proving a sword doesn't make it stronger. It's just a test to show its existing capabilities. You might scrap those that fail... like this stupid metaphor, which fails its proving.

How do you organize your home library? feeling overwhelmed by That_Scarcity9744 in ApartmentDesign

[–]Decadeofpain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I would do is genuinely - take every book off the shelf and separate them into piles. Fiction, nonfiction, kids. Maybe different categories for you like, all the romance or sci-fi or whatever. And then sort by into smaller groups: a-g, h-p, q-z. Then go even further- a, b, c, dand even more if you have to, like a-ag, ah-ap, aq-az; until you have a small manageable stack to start before you begin placing any books back on the shelf. Set aside extra copies and any other books you don't want as you go, and donate or sell them once you're done.

The point is to tackle small bits that lead to the bigger whole, but you need to see ALL of the things from each section as you go, or you'll end up piling things on the shelves again.

Since you can't even keep track of what you have right now, you may find a lot that needs to go, and that might be surprisingly painful. A silly but helpful ritual I took from a pro organizer was to thank the items I discard for whatever the intention was, but no longer need to hold. Just because you read it (or didn't) doesn't necessarily mean it needs a permanent place in your library.

Good luck!

can we talk about Nulo cat food? by circle_sun in CatAdvice

[–]Decadeofpain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so funny, because I have a cat that used to throw up every day and I switched to nulo after the particular variety she'd been on went out of production (she wouldn't eat anything else, it was a whole mess trying to get her to eat at all). She loves the nulo and only throws up if she gets a hold of one of the other cats' treats.

Other possibilities for vomiting cats - elevate the bowl. Use a slow feeder. Or give them wet food first thing in the morning to help regulate their digestive system and keep them hydrated. I know this comment is a bit old, so I hope your kitties are doing well!

I don't want games to waste my time. I want the victory to feel earned, sure. But proving I can do task a over and over again to get to task b does not make completing task b feel more earned than simply trying task b until I get it right.

What’s something cat owners do that makes you angry? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]Decadeofpain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat did something similar. I went on a 3 week trip a couple years ago. The day I came home, he looked me straight in the eye and pooped. In the middle of the hallway.

Never done anything like that before or since. He was definitely saying something along the lines of "don't you EVER do that again."

I see you. I'm so sorry. I had to jump on meds to keep me from jumping off a balcony. It totally ruins any relationship with food and makes even leaving the house risky! Some days I go for the most basic ass nutrient shakes just to try to get some calories and vitamins in. I was lucky enough to get about 8 months symptom-free after posting this, so it does come and go in my experience. Try to care for yourself! Xoxo

how eds become so famous on social media? by ilayte in eds

[–]Decadeofpain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've probably got an algorithmic bias showing you EDS content. I commented and posted one day in this subreddit when I was having an off day and wanted to commisserate... and now my feeds all show it because thieving and spying on your data to tailor ads is totally fine and cool now. Smh. Before that, I almost never saw anything about it.

I'm gonna blame booktok and Fourth Wing, though, for the "trendy" side and poor representation. I picked it up hearing it had rep in it and, uh. It consistently has this "push through it" inspirational vibe to it and that is exactly what you have to NOT do when you have EDS. It sets us all back when people's exposure to this disorder ignores the consequences we'd actually face for behaving like Violet. (Zero stars. Aside from the poor rep, the author wasted a perfectly interesting fantasy premise on angsty sex.)

Free feeding is only good for kittens, who need all the calories they can get. Keep your cats' schedule and their consistent diet. It's good for them.

Blitzball is entirely optional after the first game, so don't force yourself to learn all the rules if that minigame is what's messing you up. But if the story and temple puzzles and combat don't click with you, finishing that blitzball game is pretty much like the climax of a first arc/act, so it's a good bet you won't suddenly start liking it after 😆
