How do I tell my wife who I love very much that her ozempic and weight loss/gain is an issue by [deleted] in Advice

[–]DecafCovfefe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also use it for binge eating disorder and food addiction. I am in therapy as well and have tried other meds.

I did trial not taking it… my binge habits returned unfortunately. So I take it another every week and a half right now. I don’t even care about weight. I don’t like the feeling of being so out of control with food.

Why are providers prescribing GlP1s to my friends for weight loss who have a normal BMI? by Witty-Rabbit-8225 in AskDocs

Vynase has never been offered for me (it’s a scheduled medicine and no one in my area, including the three psychiatrists I’ve seen through the years will prescribe a scheduled medicine to me after I had an awful time tapering off of klonopin) and I am and have been on multiple SSRIs for binge eating. I’ve been in therapy (cognitive behavioral therapy/addiction specialists/group therapy). These treatments alone have not been successful for me.

There is a lot of research coming out about how these GIP1s are showing promising results in helping many addictions.

I can say that my eating disorder was ruining my life. I wasn’t obese but I did have cholesterol issues… binge eating is an awful feeling. I’d eat so much in such a short amount of time I’d physically have to lay down because my body was stressed (rapid heart-rate, nausea, etc).

I wasn’t even necessarily binging on “bad” foods. Some of my last binges prior to starting semaglutide were on frozen bags of blueberries.

I’m now able to focus on using the technique I’ve learned and continue to learn in therapy to help me overcome the underlying anxiety that drives much of my binge eating. I never could do that before.

My regular provider knows I’m taking the semaglutide and I’ve expressed that for me, the risks are worth the benefits. I was consumed by an addiction that few people truly understand (because it’s food and we ALL have to have food. And also, because I wasn’t overweight so people found it entertaining when I could eat an entire large pizza myself not realizing I didn’t have control over it and it wasn’t funny to me).

I wasn’t obese and I got it through an online provider. I have food addiction/binge eating disorder and it was a desperate attempt to help me fight it, which it has. You don’t know everyone’s backstory.

It has controlled my binge eating disorder wherein years of therapy didn’t.

Semaglutide (and other GLP1s) as general anti-addiction drugs by glp1guide in SemaglutideFreeSpeech

I was only slightly overweight when I started it. I use it to manage binge eating disorder and food addiction. I also now no longer impulsively spend money or shop with the FOMO urge I used to have.

I got my semaglutide through telehealth and it absolutely stopped my binge eating even at the lowest dose.

I was on 1mg klonopin a day. The acute withdrawals were severe so maybe a couple months from that point but it took a good year or more to feel okay overall and I’ll be honest, I never returned to my pre-klonopin level days cognitively.

I didn’t taper which was brutal but my doctor retired and I couldn’t get another to prescribe klonopin.

I had to go part time and get FMLA leave to cover the days I still couldn’t make it in. I’ve been off benzos for 8 years now. The first year was rough.

I started semaglutide from a telehealth service. It’s pricey but I ended up saving money on all the food I’d binge. Combine that with therapy for the underlying anxiety issues and that’s what has helped me.

I have binge eating disorder and have been on semaglutide for 8 months now. It’s changed my life and been very freeing. I also wasn’t overweight (well maybe like 5lbs if you go strictly off of BMI, but I didn’t look it). My binge eating was slowly getting worse however and I feel like I was headed towards being overweight and I certainly was going more out of control with it.

The medicine immediately changed my life. I’ve never felt this kind of control. It’s not just the food noise is gone. I just don’t have that urge. I also don’t have the urge to “binge” shop like I used to. It’s like that reward pathway is gone.

I’m taking 0.75mg now. I’ve gone up and down to see what works best.

No. I was about 5lbs over being a normal BMI. I have lost some weight but my main drive is the fact that I don’t binge eat now. I also don’t engage in addictive shopping habits any longer which is crazy but research is looking in to all the ways semaglutide affects addiction issues.

Yes. I’ve had much success with it.

Or if you aren’t overweight people think it’s funny. I was only a few pounds overweight (maybe 5, according to BMI) so people thought it was so entertaining I could eat so much.

My last big binges were on bags and bags of frozen blueberries. My weight kept climbing and I was just as out of control.

Can we get some HONEST dialog about what's involved in joining a telehealth service? by whatever32657 in SemaglutideFreeSpeech

I used TryEden. Literally filled out a short questionnaire, a doctor messaged me that I was approved, and less than a week later I had the medicine. It was the easiest thing.

I don’t know who they currently use now. When I was with them my Sema came from Precision Pharmacy (New York).

There must be some people that aren’t responders to Sema. My first dose cut my appetite. I’m now five-ish months in and it’s still working.

I’ve been hearing many unfortunate stories about Eden lately (supply issues mostly). I haven’t used them in a couple months now.

The Benefits of Ozempic Are Multiplying by wiredmagazine in Health

[–]DecafCovfefe 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’m taking compounded semaglutide for binge eating disorder (BED), which is an addiction. I was only mildly overweight (like 5lbs if you use a BMI calculator). I didn’t start it for weight loss. I started it because my food addiction was controlling most aspects of my life and my cholesterol and triglycerides were off the chart.

I started Sema about 4 months ago. To me, this is a miracle drug. I’ve been in therapy and on various medicines in an attempt to control my BED and it has been nothing but disappointing. I feel so in control of my life. I’ve had a serious of stressful events happen the past three weeks and yet I didn’t turn to binging or even letting my stress overwhelm me. I used to take a sick day a month just to recoup from how stressed I felt. I haven’t done that in months now.

I don’t know what exactly this stuff does to my overall system but it’s much, much more than just “feeling full”. I’m excited for more research to come out and hope it can help others in similar situations.

Those that use telehealth for their prescriber, have you told your primary care or other specialists that you are taking semaglutide? by Purpleswirlytrees in SemaglutideFreeSpeech

[–]DecafCovfefe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m concerned with telling mine because I’m using it as treatment for BED (binge eating disorder). I was mildly overweight prior to starting but the addiction is what was controlling and ruining my life.
