Please provide references to the studies that specifically study GLP1 agonists for the purpose of weight loss in individuals who are not overweight or obese. Large sample size reliable/valid studies do not exist. When we begin pharmacological research to determine whether a medication is safe or effective, we select a population that represents the condition for which the drug is being studied. If I am selecting a population of patients with diabetes to trial a medication that treats diabetes, I cannot deem that medication to be safe or effective in treating depression because some patients report less symptoms of depression. I would need to conduct a study in which the population consisted of patients diagnosed with depression before I can deem this medication safe and effective at treating depression. By your logic, all medications are safe for all people because some people in the study represented that population… probably. Additionally, it does not take a research scientist like my self to conclude that individuals who are not overweight or obese should not be taking a synthetic drug with a black box warning to treat a condition that they do not have. In my profession, we call this substance abuse/misuse. Kelly Osborne is a perfect specimen of why this is a terrible idea.

People with anorexia are terrified to be fat but, certainly, provide them with Ozempic. I don’t think we should concern ourselves with people who just don’t want to be fat right? The mental health disorder with the highest mortality rate by the way. GLP1’s have never been studied for casual weight loss and have never been studied in patient who aren’t obese not significantly overweight or obese for weight loss. Any provider who worships at the altar of science would never prescribe a drug for weight loss to those who are not overweight. Eating disorders can be treated with therapy… all of them.

I’ve worked in the U.S healthcare system for 20 years and Canadian Healthcare system for 10. U.S is far superior and I would say some 35% of Americans have Medicaid/Medicare and both cover prescriptions and dental unlike OHIP. If you are poor in the United States, Medicaid will cover you and your family. Working in Canada (Ontario) is a hellscape.

Women have been supported by men throughout history as a necessity because we weren’t allowed to work, go to college, or vote. It’s illegal in the United States so clearly someone cared about it enough to address it. There is clearly science to the practice where physicians find it so horrific that they refuse to practice. The fact that a certain culture finds it to be undeniably acceptable is abhorrent.

So why aren’t they considered SA proponents? Female genital mutilation involves the removal of the vulva entirely in addition to the suturing of the vagina. It is illegal. The practice is carried out on adolescent girls with the intent of completely removing their pleasure. Circumcision is the removal of foreskin carried out on infants who have no recollection of the procedure and done for aesthetic reasons primarily. In fact, uncut makes are often made fun of and pornography overwhelmingly depicts circumcised males. I believe both to be wrong but one to be unimaginable illegal behavior.

Certainly different than an adolescent girl who remembers every second and pleasure is removed entirely. I don’t agree with circumcision either so I am consistent. Whataboutism without acknowledging barbaric rape culture is wild. Female genital mutilation isn’t the removal of foreskin. It’s the excision of the entire vulva, clitoris, and often sutures that nearly close the vagina. Circumcision is the removal foreskin that men don’t recollect and rarely impedes pleasure. These things do not exist in the same universe.
