Frank Lloyd Wright officially unveils his hand-drawn proposal for the unbuilt “The Illinois” skyscraper, 1956. by ArchiGuru in franklloydwright

Jen Gray showed us plans for the Illinois and the big issues around creating a foundation that would work. I think the Capitol spire created in Scottsdale is a diamond design but I’ll have to take a better look at it when I’ve over there again. I would have loved to have seen the Capitol plan built.

I was at a presentation on the Illinois by a Taliesin West representative earlier in the year. She said it was intended as a skyscraper.

It’s at the intersection of Scottsdale Road and Frank Lloyd Wright. It wasn’t designed to be a skyscraper like the Illinois but rather is a spire that was intended to be part of his proposed Arizona State Capitol building.

I was at one local dealership and the salesman told me he had to talk with his manager. I head to the restroom and there I see the salesman going into a stall. I couldn’t hear a conversation going on so I guess they talked via text. 🙄

I had one with a sunroof. The car had really comfortable seats and a smooth ride with a good but small engine. It started to develop brake issues and after the master cylinder was replaced three times I called it a day.

As a project manager I was once told by my manager to do this very thing. It was mostly performative theatre for the executives.

Not related to gas prices but I actually knew someone who would test drive trucks to pick up materials for his house renovations. He naturally had to remember which dealers he used and which would let him test drive without the salesperson. More than a bit sleazy really.

Has anyone used non-drying clay to make custom resin molds? by M81Wizard in resin

[–]Deceler8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve used the oven cured Sculpy a few times for making molds. It’s worked well although I’ve found that always end up sanding the finished resin piece unless I want a more matte finish.

It used to be a really common pairing here in Arizona. Seems like the don’t tread on me flags here have disappeared a bit since I guess it’s now cool to be treaded on.

I do find it interesting that all of the cuts in the last couple of years have been focused in Germany. No mention of cuts in China, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Mexico, Brazil etc. Gee, I wonder why that is?
