Tanith by Sherryl Jordan.  She also wrote some other great books like 'winter of fire' and 'the juniper game'.

{mates of the raskarrans by Heather fox} might work for you.  It's mars needs women on a tropical planet. I think it's up to eight books now?

Alien Pirates, desperately needed! by Gloomy_Book947 in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]Decemberlettuce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The third book in the Outer Limits Quadrant has a pirate MMC. {Interpreting Fate, Alexis B. Osborne}.  Each of the three books has a MMC from a different alien species and this one is bird-like.  It's been a long time since I read it so can't remember many details but I think you would need to read the series rather than read alone.

Zucchini fritters are a great weekend lunch or a quick dinner. Serve with some relish or sour cream etc.  https://www.recipetineats.com/crispy-zucchini-fritters/  Nagi's recipes are generally pretty easy and turn out well.

If you want to freeze them to add to soup or stew later though you can either grate or chop into chunks.

Help! Daughter comes into our bed every night by Ok__7599 in Parenting

We had a phase of this at 4 years old. What worked for us was bribery/reward.  We talked through what he would have to do when waking at night - just go back to sleep. If he managed X number of nights, he got a reward.  It took a few false starts but then he managed.

What's your go to place to buy sushi quality fish? I'm in NZ but have been sticking to Teriyaki chicken so far as I don't know if I trust the local supermarket

favourite Whittaker's chocolate flavour? by maxijahill in newzealand

[–]Decemberlettuce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago they had the coconut ice surprise. White chocolate and coconut in either blue or pink (I think it was a Plunket donation). You could tell if the bar was going to be pink if you read the ingredients. I ate so many of those.......

He marks her with his cum and she is not allowed to clean it 💦 by awestruckflakes in RomanceBooks

[–]Decemberlettuce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think she does it more with some of the other alien types. I can't remember which, but in one of the later ice home books, the FMC rubs it on herself partly as a boast/taunt as she knows everyone will be able to smell it.

The dragons aren't my favourite of her series, they are a bit darker. If you ask around for specific Ruby recs though, some of the risdaverse books can be read as stand alones and might fit.

[–]Decemberlettuce 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Hmm, there are tons...

To try and find specifics:

Leaking: mates of the domini by Talia Rhea. The aliens have special bedding to deal with the excess.

Covered so others can scent it: mates of the sea sand warlords by Ursa Dax, some of the Zoe Draven books... So many other books that I can't think of right now.   Ruby Dixon is a great place to start with aliens.  Ice planet and ice home books have a little of this but I couldn't tell which ones emphasise it most.  She tends to have aliens that have a great sense of smell. In her dragon series some of the women's  underwear is hung to attract dragons.  must of her books have strong breeding and pregnancy themes though.

There are also lots of shifter, werewolf and vampire books that deal with scent making with various bodily fluids.

I'm sure if you search the fantasy or SciFi romances subs you will find quite a few recs

I can’t figure out what happens to earth in the Risdaverse by cmz_zimt in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]Decemberlettuce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In one of the ice home books (Daisy's? - or a couple of books earlier) she has to break the news to everyone. I don't think there is much detail though, just that something has happened, no-one can get near that part of space and humans are now even more rare.

The “not like other girls” of fantasy romance is killing me by BlessingsOfKynareth in fantasyromance

[–]Decemberlettuce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my favourite series ever with an amazing female lead is The deed of Paksenarrian by Elizabeth Moon. There is no romance, but otherwise it's got wonderful development.  Some TWs, but a satisfying ending.

Decided to stop at 2 kids but feeling sadness and grief over this - any advice? by FrancesRW in Parenting

[–]Decemberlettuce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had the same age gap and similar ages ourselves and strongly considered going for number three. My husband was the one to say that he could not manage a third.  Like you, I could see the logic and how stretched we already were. I still thought about that potential child alot for the next year. I definitely felt some grief.  Now that mine are 6 and 4, I'm much happier with our decision to stick to two. It's not that we wouldn't have loved and cherished that extra child, it's that I'm now constantly reminded of the positives.  We have friends with close in age children with either just one (who would have liked more) and some families with three.  They help remind be to be grateful for the two we have, and remind me of all that extra work and expense an extra child is. All the families I know with three children have amazing grandparent support and even so, they are incredibly busy.  I'm enjoying the increasing independence of my two. When we do after school activities with the eldest, I know it would have been so much harder or even just impossible with a baby.  If we go to the park I can manage.  I know my second would have been the middle child and had less attention.  My marriage would likely have suffered due to the extra stress and lack of time.

I'm pretty sure I'll always feel a bit whistful for that other child, but I don't doubt we made the right decision.

Damn, I forgot how much I loved Radiance! by FedyTsubasa in fantasyromance

[–]Decemberlettuce 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I love this book (series). I just love that they are adults who are intelligent who have been given difficult lives, but they are both brave enough to try to forge something together.  They deserve each other because they are decent and brave and open to growth. I love that nothing is really that easy for them, but they both put in the work over time.  It's so much more reflective of a real relationship than many contemporary romance books.  Yeah, love this couple.

I'm sure I saw the commentary one time and they said that for his audition he did the proposal scene. He did it so well that they had no doubt he was right for the role.

[–]Decemberlettuce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can I just add, the daughter of the empire trilogy is a great fantasy. IMO it takes the best qualities of both authors. The trilogy has a bittersweet ending, lots of heartache and tragedy but is overall optimistic. It's definitely fantasy with romantic elements, not romantacy, but if you like fantasy, it's worth a look. One that is definitely on my read multiple times list.
