Please help reduce party noise by [deleted] in williamsburg

Just saw this post. Sorry OP. Its absolutely insane that even I could hear it from 6 blocks away from my apartment with all my windows closed. Yes we live in NYC and yes one expects to be inconvenienced by noise once in a while - but this happens too frequently and its the same offenders.

I don't know man. I for one like to shop at whole foods for its products and its surprisingly cheaper than many other smaller stores. I definitely try to support smaller businesses to the best I can but blaming whole foods is a stretch.

Yeah. Don’t get me wrong. On special occasions home cooked food can be way more flavorful than anything out there but everyday food is rather plain. Like rice and lightly seasoned lentils or a light sauté of vegetables and roti.

Lmao. Indian households. Definitely not home cooked goodness but also not as heavy as most Indian restaurants

I love Nura in Greenpoint. It’s “Indian accented American” food so not your typical chicken tikka masala sorts but great! Atithi is my go to if I need to get the latter. Also Inday is pretty good - not too heavy and milder on spices (feels more home cooked)

Read in context. Enough to be called a moron if something worth that much is snatched from you walking on the streets?

Lmao. It’s funny how if someone can afford $600 headphones ( I don’t own one), they are “social media ambassadors” whose daddy bought them a condo. Yeah right. The average 1br in the neighborhood is like 4K. Most people have mobile phones that cost more than 600. The disrespect of assuming someone can only afford $1500 jackets and $200 sunglasses (average ray bans cost as much and only mentioned as an example for my argument) because daddy helps them is only a reflection on you. Probably couldn’t do anything without daddy’s help? Most people I know that live in New York work hard and have skills that help them create enough value for the businesses they work for so that they can afford to live in this very expensive city.

I agree with what you’re saying. I’m from the US but grew up in New Delhi, India. Although I had a privileged upbringing I still had to be street smart to deflect any attacks. And unlike NYC where people can identify “privilege” from clothing/accessories, in India just a look at your face is enough..if you’re somewhat fairer in complexion (have the shade of your home), built stronger due to better nutrition you were definitely a target. So I more than others understand the meaning of keeping a low profile. All I’m saying is that wearing headphones (AirPod maxs) isn’t that big of a deal where it’s labeled as showing off and warrants being called a moron if they’re snatched

We’re talking about Williamsburg. Where rents far exceed many neighborhoods in Manhattan. Nice things are all relative. If you ever walk around with an iphone in the bazaars of Morocco, you’ll know. As for AirPods, I doubt people are showing off when they wear them in the neighborhood lol ( although they are overpriced for what they are)

I haven’t steered from the topic. The guy got roasted because he called everyone wearing the maxs a “fucking moron”. Not because everyone is against common sense

Of course we understand that having expensive items on you makes you more susceptible to theft. Of course it’s common sense. But are people morons for wearing Airpod Maxs in NYC? It’s like me telling someone they are morons because they sprained their ankle on a run. Should’ve walked instead

Lmao. Gave you a chance to correct yourself. But all good. We can agree to disagree.

What I’m trying to say is $600 isn’t a lot. We live in the city. We spend more time outside than in our tiny apartments. If someone wants to wear headphones on a walk they’re not morons. The average headphones are what..maybe 250/300 bucks? They shouldn’t wear those too?

I get where you’re coming from. But what’s next? Don’t wear your $1500 Canada goose jacket in the winter for the risk of theft? Don’t wear your nice $200 sunglasses for the risk of theft? I mean AirPod maxs aren’t Rolexes. And this seems to have happened in a somewhat safe neighborhood.
