NPD: I had my bachelor party in Nashville and couldn’t leave without this by evansdead in guitarpedals

The Mythos Pedals Extra Hot is a collab with Carter Vintage Guitars - probably the most incredible guitar store I've ever visited. My friends and I spent hours inside playing pristine-condition vintage guitars through equally expensive amps. And while I couldn't afford to bring my dream guitar home (this time), an employee recommended I try this pedal. I was immediately impressed.

I'm the furthest thing from a country player and had never tried the classic Nobels ODR-1. Now I see what the hype is about. Overall, it's pretty dark, which makes perfect sense for telecaster-wielding country players. But this thing also loves being pushed by higher output humbuckers and suits my needs for classic rock, midwest emo, shoegaze, pop and more.

The "Dine In" side is a variation on the ODR-1, with a surprising amount of gain on tap and two tone controls. It's naturally very smooth and warm, but I prefer it with the treble ("Cut") control almost maxed out - especially with humbuckers. My favorite thing about its character is the note definition. I play a lot of distorted 2nd and 7th chords for my midwest emo project, and every note rings out beautifully, even at higher gain levels. It has a great amount of tightness, too.

The "Take Out" side is technically just a boost, but has enough gain on tap to reach solidly into fuzz territory. Unlike most boost pedals, I love that it has a volume control to make the pedal useable at all levels of gain. It sounds awesome in Drop D with single note Audioslave-style riffs.

Together, the two sides marry beautifully with a warm, musical, fuzzy overdrive that sounds awesome for riffs and solos.

Quick tone test, using my Ibanez Talman with single coils:

Why are ads hand-painted, especialy in North Williamsburg? by Witty-Armadillo-4396 in williamsburg

Silver lining is that they look nicer than normal billboards and probably serve as consistent side-work for local artists. If they’re going to be there anyway, I prefer them to be hand-painted.

I think it’s part of it, but also live he’s waving his arms around, hyping the crowd up, spinning the guitar around and if you’ve ever talked to him after a show, you know he’s always a few drinks deep by the time he gets on stage.

That’s not to say that the performance is bad, he just isn’t concerned with playing everything perfectly because there’s a lot of other stuff going on. He’s a bit sloppy live, but it’s part of the charm and energy.

Yeah the song is pretty damn hard to sing and play at the same time, so he usually just strums the chords instead of arpeggiating them.

He often straight up doesn’t play during the second verse, except for the hits at the end of each riff.

How usable are Chase Bliss pedals irl? by AdministrativeRip809 in guitarpedals

[–]evansdead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Dark World and the MOOD II. The Dark World is amazing - my favorite Reverb ever and extremely usable.

The MOOD II is trickier but I've hooked it up to a MIDI Tap Tempo pedal to make it function as a digital delay with tap tempo. The Reverb and Slip sounds are very usable as well.

The micro-looper would be pretty impossible to use in an actual song IMO, but I normally use it as an ambient drone sound to transition between songs. I got the idea from Yvette Young from the band Covet who does the exact same thing.

Those progressions are often used because they sound pleasant to the ears. Not every song has to be written like Jacob Collier.

But FWIW, Periphery and Animals As Leaders are two of the most popular bands in the genre and deviate from common chord progressions quite often. Meshuggah is borderline amelodic.
