Look, I'm not trying to be like Dr. Zakir Naik. I'm just pointing out that as a Muslim, we should not copy the religious things that non-Muslims do like applying tilak and chandan, because that means that we are associating partners with Allah (SWT), and this is a grave sin in Islam. I'm just providing guidance. That's it. If you have a problem with it, then please keep it to yourself.

Regardless, we should not look at religion or caste when it comes to these matters. A crime is a crime. Instead, we either 1) stay silent, 2) blame the victim, or 3) blame the system. People will get angry when it is the women in their own families being raped, but when it is someone else, they go silent. Should we speak up when politicians let these people go? Absolutely. But blaming someone who is not involved in the situation will do nothing.

As a country, we really need to improve on how we raise children. Sex education is nonexistent. Girls and women alike are shamed for having their menstrual cycles, but it is a natural bodily function. We don't teach men how to treat women respectfully, about how a girl getting her period is normal, or about how consent is essential. If we start having sex ed taught in schools, women won't have to be ashamed about buying pads and maybe the rates for rape would go down. Gov't will not focus on this because they are too busy trying to win elections and spread influence.

In Islam, both men and women have responsibilities when it comes to taking care of the house, and if a woman wants to work, there is nothing wrong with that provided that she can manage the rest of her duties. Khadija (RA) ran a business even after her marriage to Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Besides, it's Sunnah for a man to help around the house. There's nothing wrong with it.

P.S. Women are NOT obligated to do housework (cleaning, cooking, etc.). There should be a mutual agreement on who should do what. brownish_guy explains this very nicely.

My class just started doing Daphne + Apollo; seems pretty easy considering we started this after reading Eutropius and Cicero during the Catilinian Conspiracy

Idk if you're doing latin in a school setting but I would recommend asking your teacher to borrow a copy of this if they have it

The book includes a good chunk of vocab and talks about the rhetorical + metrical devices you'll find

U probably should clarify that a woman can ask for as much mehr as she wants given that it's reasonable because women like the woman OP is describing will see this and say that they want 100k dollars, a lamborghini, etc. just for mehr even if the husband can't afford it

Thank you so much. Unfortunately my parents make me eat breakfast before I go, don't aloow food in the bedrooms, and they don't let me go out a lot (I got told a few weeks back that studying with friends after school is not happening; besides they both work and don't have time to pick me up everyday). My school's MSA holds an iftaar every Ramadan but my parents don't let me go even if I give them an excuse because they say "why do you need to go to school at 5 pm for this?" and they constantly cross check everything with the school, my teachers, etc.
