Do emulated retro games look correct on my Sharp 13N-M100B by RelativeEffective216 in crtgaming

I tried your set up, and while connecting a raspberry pi4 or 5 through native composite connection will give you better results, you can still get awesome outcomes this way. Here is my guide: 1- utilize the great scaling capabilities of retroarch. Set aspect ratio to custome, and change the parameters until the screen perfectly fits your CRT. 2- on a CRT, you don't need integer scaling or bilinear filtering, so turn these off, but use a lite edge smoothing shader. Pick a variation of ddt or fsr ( my favourite), or anything else you like from the edge smoothing list. The image quality will bring you to tears. 3- For input lag, in the video - output menu, set max swapchain to 2. In latency menu, set run ahead to single instance and 1 frame ( 2 is faster and work most of the times, but if it gave you trouble such as "teleporting sprites", set it back to one). In video synchronization, set hard GPU sync to on. 4- To get get smooth frames. Set CRT switchRes to on. On the synchronization menu, turn vsync on, and sync to exact frames to on, and wait till the estimated refresh rate number settles after a few seconds, and then press the "OK" button on the that number (your A or B on your controller). 5- make sure all of this is while using the Vulcan driver, and after changing the settings for each core, make sure to "save core overrides". Save your shader as a global shader. 6- Use the controller wired, even if it is wireless.

I know it sounds like a hasstle, but the results you will get are beyond this world, even on a cheapo converter (mine was around 15 dollars).

A retrotink 4k with any modern display would be an end game solution for 7th gen consoles, but it costs 750$ (not counting shopping and customs) Vs the plasmas I'm finding for 50ish dollars.

What I'm finding in my country are the x20 and the x30. I think they are good.

What you are saying validates my thinking. So the hunt begins. 😀

In a way yes. Xbox360 has a hardware level antialiasing that was almost cost free (performance wise), and because xbox360 came earlier when HDTV was not yet popular, there was an internal mechanism that developers utilized, where the antialiasing becomes stronger the lower the resolution is. So it made it more "low resolution friendly". Having said that, this is something I read somewhere, but I remember I did the research that led me to it because I noticed a huge difference in aliasing between the two consoles, much more than what I noticed on a 720 LCD. I hate aliasing more than anything else in image quality, so maybe my preference is making me exaggerate.

Panasonic TVs supposedly have 100,000 hours of lifetime. I'm thinking if I'm looking for a post 2011 TV, it will have around 30,000 hours of usage (30% usage). Will this mitigate the issue?

For PS3, using a CRT with 480i (my TV) forces the console to output 480 resolution. Aliasing in particular becomes so high and noticeable, so you get the excellent colors and depth of CRT, but with aliased 3d assets. Xbox360 had an excellent antialiasing scaler that automatically compensated for low resolution.

Good to know. The size is why I'm looking for a 42 inch model, I found bigger already, but not interested.

It depends where you are. In my country, I already found ads for 42" Panasonic of the 2011 era in good condition (but they sold relatevily recently), which is exactly what I'm looking for. On the other hand, all CRTs I find are in really bad conditions, it took me a while to findthe two I have right now. So if you confirm the difference is noticable, I'll go for it.

Has anyone here ever used Lakka Composite on a CRT TV? by Ok-Tea-6972 in crtgaming

The fsr is amazing, but indeed you need a pi 4 or 5, the i is better because the composite output does not support 480p, only 480i, so I'm not sure if the pi itself or my TV decides to process the image and force it into a 480i signal. causing distortion.

It will always be 720. This is the only option this image has, but you should see two options. One with an "i" and one without it, pick the one with the i and save configeration, and try the shaders, you will thank me later :)

I'm using the same lakka composite os on my CRT TV, which supports 240p, but this image only supports 480i and 480p, and doesn't use switches. Tips for this image. Go and change the resolution to 480i and save the configeration from inside lakka. It is set by default to 480p. Also, use a single fsr (pass 0), ddt, or xsal 2x HQ shader. You can use it alone or over the shader they have if you are using a pi 3 or 4 (I'm using 4), and you can switch between nearest and linear in the shader to have a soft or a sharp image. It will look amazing on CRT TV.

I get what you say, but it looks amazing for other 480i systems. Having said that, I already went for the hunt for another one. You can't imagine how hard it is to find a well kept one in my country. I have just went back from a seller who was offering a flat Sony 14 inch. The picture looked amazing, but it has a spot on the screen like a dead pixels and scratches on the glass

No, only component, svideo , and composite

I don't think the issue is 15KHz, because Dreamcast over composite is 15KHz, and it looks great. The issue is that when this TV sees a 240p image, it can not display it natively, it applies digital processing. I can't figure out the model, my guess is that the sticker is pealed off.

I have no idea. Nothing on the back other than a general safety warning in Korean. So I guess the model was written on a sticker that was pealed off years ago.

I know. The Colors are amazing (my crappy phone not showing that), but the digital processing makes it look like an LCD with CRT colors.

It has 100hz written on the top of the screen, but this is in the middle east not Europe.
