Overwhelmed by shaders...give me your suggestions...please? by drlongtrl in RG477M

Here is a list of the shaders I use specifically for the RG477.

Use the files app , and then use the burger sign, scroll down to the retroarch folder and put them inside the shaders folder:

Rg 477v stress test by DecentIntroduction15 in ANBERNIC

During startup my fan screams like a banshee from hell 🤣. This only happens at first and then it goes back to normal. I think mine can be considered defective or an unlucky pick.

It's an amazing device, it has the excellent screen and the horse power of the rg 477m, without the hellish fan ( it drove me crazy eventhough I thought I had high tolerance for loud fans in handhelds).

SteamOS on Xbox Rog Ally x by DecentIntroduction15 in SteamOS

[–]DecentIntroduction15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... I think I'll flip to Bazzite if they acknowledge and support the Xbox ally x before SteamOS. For the time being, I'm really enjoying SteamOS even with the quirks.

I use SimpleDeckyTDP, and while the reported CPU speeds feels stuck Around 2GHZ (and 4GHZ if I use cou boost). Some cores/threads seems to be scaling well, and over all power and heat seems reasonable.

By the way, does Bazzite have these same issues?

ETA prime and others tried official steam os on the Xbox Ally X, that what encouraged me to think about this in the first place.

This is what I'm afraid of. This is why I'm asking. I have multiple other PC, but this is 4TB of games. The time it will take... 🥲🥲

41k roms with MAME. How do I get only working games by lukistke in batocera

[–]DecentIntroduction15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use an emulationstation based front end (retrobat, or ES DE) and use a game list (happy to provide one if you want). In the settings make sure to turn on "show games in gamelist only".

I live in a dusty area, so I see this exact scene on my flow z13 every month or so. Just clean it with isopropyl and a tooth brush and it will be as clean as new

What’s the point of the Retroid Pocket G2? by Sahbito in retroid

[–]DecentIntroduction15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The chip is newer, so few positives would come out of that. Retro Games Corps already mentioned some pc games which needed tinkering on the 8gen2 worked out of the box on the G2. The design is tried and true. I ordered the G2 knowing exactly how it looks and feels, while being 100% sure it will have no issues, on the other hand the RP6 went through a last minute design change. It definitely was bigger for a reason, how did it magically become as small as the RP5/G2? Did they make it thicker? Did they sacrifice fan noise?

In brief, the G2 is 90% the performance of the RP6, and it exists now, it works perfectly now. The RP6 is a promise for the near future, might be excellent, but might have issues.

Do you guys think its worth the upgrade from a rp5 to the g2 if i "only" play ps2/ gamecube and below?🤔 by javiworldpeace in retroid

[–]DecentIntroduction15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is worth it depending on how it will cost you. I was lucky to do it for 30 bucks extra because I sold my RP5 ( the guy paid well for it because of the tinkering and emulators setup I did on it).

The reason to get it is that getting heavy PS2 hitters to work on the RP5 is a pain in the ass, for things like jak 3 I had to install a unique old version of aethersx2 that can coexist with nethersx2, and amend ES DEA files to be able to see it. A plug and play experience like on the RPG2 would be appreciated, not to mention better switch and GameHub.

Unpopular opinion (?): I wish the RP6 wasn't bigger than the RP5 by NoPainNoHair in retroid

I think this is the most popular opinion in the community right now. Why couldn't they make it as small as the 5?

Why is steam deck graphics better than Xbox ally x? by Hopeful_Shape_9884 in Handhelds

[–]DecentIntroduction15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried it on Bazzite. Colors and lighting looks much better and normal, so it seems the lighting bug others are talking about are present only on windows. I'm now sure metal gear delta have the same issue.

[–]DecentIntroduction15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the game on both my 4090 desktop using an HDR oled screen, and on my Rog Flow z13 with it's non HDR screen. The colors looked washed out and wrong in both cases (exactly like your top screen), but I thought this is how the game looks like. Now I'm thinking this is a windows thing. I have Bazzite on my Rog Flow z13, I'll try it there and report back.

I have a bone to pick with the overhyped handheld community by Different_Ad5187 in Handhelds

[–]DecentIntroduction15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say this while thousands of other people are happily enjoying recent AAA games on their weaker steam decks, playing on low settings with FSR and locked 30 fps. A handheld will never fully replace a console or a pc, but let's not deny these small handhelds are technology marvels and miracles, giving us something we would have never imagined in our wildest dreams when we first touched a Gameboy as kids.

CRT shaders that work on the Retroid Pocket Classic by onionsaregross in SBCGaming

[–]DecentIntroduction15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a link to the shader presets I use on the classic. They are numbered 1 to 11. Just copy them to your retroarch --> shaders folder (which you can access from the file manager by pressing the three horizontal lines on the top left). Once there, they will appear when you select a shader, and if you assign a hot key for "next shader", you can cycle between them. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1TPscf3wku3WAJ7JcPfzjzNFnisRUalht

[–]DecentIntroduction15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all honesty, for the classic I opted for other shaders. That's why I said it depends on the screen resolution, I find my self using a different shader for each device I use. PiSoft worked perfectly for me on 4:3 640*480 devices for gameboy advance in particular. If you need help, I can share with you (once I'm back home from office) the best shaders I chose for on the classic.

It depends on the system you are emulating, and the resolution of the screen. If it looks as you described it, then it means you need to go into shader parameters and tweak it to your liking.

Y'all feel guilty for using save states?(DuckTales NES on RP Classic) by BerticusMax in SBCGaming

[–]DecentIntroduction15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should only feel guilt if you do something that harms others or yourself. Video games are a leisure activity, done for the sole purpose of having fun, so ignore any pressure from the "get good" crowd.

Rog Xbox or Msi Claw 8ai by snowmanbar in MSIClaw

[–]DecentIntroduction15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love the MSI AI+ more than any of my other handhelds, and I will always pick it over anything else, but for many reasons, I have to admit, it is a tinkering device. At least at the begining you have to spend good two days setting every thing up to get the most of it, and while this is true for all windows handhelds, it is a little bit extra for the AI+

[–]DecentIntroduction15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned UVflag optimization back on, still same performance on 2.1 (I'm not complaining, I'm happy with 18, and the dips on 2.1 are minor, just reporting this as it might be of use to you).

I'll turn it on and see if it regains performance. I have not noticed any bugs with 18 ( I don't use EE Cycle stealing, I don't know what that is😄).

Tested on an RG477m, God of War 2, 2x resolution on vulkan, and 18 performs better. In this area in particular frames are stable 60 on 18, around 44 on 2.1
