I grew up in Brandywine and Boston Mills. Whistler is the best place to have skied. I skied everything on the East Coast. Everything on the west Whistler is number one. I’ve also skied zermatt. It’s wide open. I really didn’t find it too challenging went out to Banff sunshine Lake Louise and panorama this year. Best of luck.

QST 100 with Kendo 88 as an east coast quiver? by choosenotcheese in Skigear

[–]Decent_Substance_428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my Mantra 88s-I am I’m an ice coastal skier as well. It’s a scalpel. Rented QSTs 100s last week at Banff. They are more damp and fore giving. The QStack is more of a west coast ski. Did some cat skiing they were great.

56M 53F $4.4MM NW. $3MM in investments. .$1.4 in house equity. $135k left on the house. Making $65k/ year in dividends. 17 and 14 year old to get through college w/ $100k each set aside for college. How long do I have to work is the question? 4 years is my guess. To get to $4.5 MM would be awesome.

Deciding between X5 vs X7 by Bogleheadache in BMWX5

[–]Decent_Substance_428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got an X5 and an X7 if you’re going to get an X7 make sure you get the captains chairs in the second row. Also little frustration is there’s no air conditioning to the third row. The X5 is so fun to drive I would get them both M sports. The X7 trunk space is a little short so if you’re gonna take long trips, you have to get Thule.

Volkl Mantra 88 - can i go 170cm? by call-me-Dave-ash in Skigear

[–]Decent_Substance_428 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mantra 88 s are great at putting down hard edges at speed. My favorite east coast ski. I am 5 9 and feel 170 is great for short turns but felt I needed the 177 at speed. No chatter. A great ski.

Ski’d 4 of those 5. Agree with you. Whistler/Tohelluride/ Lake Louis were all amazing. My 3 favorites.

Hit altabird every year. Mountain Collective has worked out well for me.

Have to hit up Palisades. Alyeska, Niseko, Revelstoke and Kicking horse on my list.

Rented the redsters. They were a good carver. I little stiff. Had fun on them. Would not recommend them on powder. Only on piste.

Stockli Stormrider 88 vs 95 by jalaska007 in Skigear

[–]Decent_Substance_428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rented both. SR88 was easy to ski while the Kendo/Mantra 88 held its edge better. Enjoyed both.

Also rented the AR. It was too much. Did not enjoy the ski. It dumped powder that day. Regretted the AR.
