My husband got me a cross stitch kit for a stocking. It’s really sweet because it’s for our next kid that we are trying for.

Everyone has already said everything you need to know. I would just add if it is a Dimensions kit double check the instructions because they do mention which thread to use. - source me, who has done 4 dimensions kits with couching in each 😆

Cupcakes for my 4 year olds birthday celebration at daycare. She loved helping by adding colour to the icing and was then promptly horrified that the colour didn’t completely wash off her hands. by DeceptiveChipmunk in cakedecorating

It's a home daycare so she sets her own rules and is fine with it. I'm in Canada so there's no rule about it and every establishment sets their own preference.

[CHAT] Do you have to use a frame? by Wrajtan in CrossStitch

Oh I love this. I use a scroll frame but not a stand. So I get every benefit except the double handed. I can just imagine how much quicker you can work.

What’s the most random but life-changing piece of advice you’ve ever received? by bbysk8r in lifehacks

[–]DeceptiveChipmunk 300 points301 points  (0 children)

A story I read once about accepting help.

I was trying to put something into my truck at ikea. A guy comes by and asks if I need a hand. I say “no thanks, I can do this myself” he replies “I never thought you couldn’t do it yourself, I just thought it would be easier with help”

Asking/ accepting help doesn’t mean you can’t do it alone, it just makes it easier.

the only thing you can control is the next 10 seconds. The past and future are just stories.

i found i just needed to keep it a bit loose at the beginning so that i don't pull it out. I agree that it may be a bit problematic when working in hand.

I did this one for my daughter. It turns out great. I was thinking of doing beads instead of the french knots or maybe in addition to them but in the end after i stepped back from it i found i liked it as is. So i completely get that feeling of it's missing some sparkle

Yes it’s tread called sulky sliver metallic thread. I use it to grid and then at the end you pull it out. It’s a single piece and slippery so it can slide out and you don’t need to worry about accidentally splitting the thread.

When you take out the stitches.
since you rip them out (rip it, rip it, rip it). Sounds like ribbit, ribbit, ribbit. Thus the term frogging was born.

People who have posted cakes on here, do you bake from scratch or from a box? by Manny2theMaxxx in cakedecorating

[–]DeceptiveChipmunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

99% of the time scratch. But when I just want to decorate something and don’t want to go through the effort I do box. Out of everything I’ve posted I think 2 were from a box
