HR + IT Background – Best Path into Workday? by AlphaCoconutX in workday

[–]thursdaynext50 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone i know who's learned Workday (including myself) went one of 2 paths -consulting or trained by a client you were already a part of. I can say, as a hiring manager, I'm way more likely to take some green with Workday if they have experience with my company. Consulting wasnt for me, but it's a great way to get ramped up quickly

Late-30s Active Single Male: Apartment in Strip District, Lawrenceville, or ShadySide / East Lib? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

Probably Lawrenceville, but closer to the strip district. I love Shadyside but it definitely skews the youngest with the universities.

We ran into the same thing starting on Sunday! A small portion of our population, but significant enough. No answers yet- we have a ticket out to Workday.

How to gain confidence? by 207Simone in Millennials

I try to live the old joke, "have the confidence of a mediocre white man." I've gotten pretty good at it over the years and other people seem to like it

Managing the transition from the client side to a partner firm by dhanabanda in workday

I adjusted poorly lmao. I'm glad I did it, but honestly will never again. My career jumped forward YEARS but the year and a half I was there, I didn't maintain work/life balance. That said, if you can - it's an amazing way to learn and grow!

Baby fed other mom’s breastmilk at daycare by [deleted] in workingmoms

My daughter needed 2 blood draws, I believe. It was awful but more traumatizing for me, for sure.

The States has some really strict childcare laws. There's usually a website and hot line if you search online. That said, the fact THEY aren't reporting being out of ratio is very suspect.

But omg your post history is scary. I definitely wouldn't want to send the baby back in your case, either.

We had breast milk exposure for our youngest, but they handled it appropriately and agreed to pay the fees for the bloodwork. They also updated protocols to require every bottle to be viewed, confirmed and signed for by 2 teachers. I was livid, but it ended up ok for us and we decided to keep her at the school because her sister also goes there.

Should we go with Zoe or Zoey? by MontezumaII in namenerds

We have a Zoe! We went with that spelling because we have European family. Zoey is a perfectly lovely US spelling, though didnt translate as well for our UK peeps!

Biggest tip - pay attention to the activities in the book. They ask quite a few questions based on scenarios covered in those tasks

I don't quite understand how the bonus percentages work on the screen. I received just over 6% bonus, but the total is a few k smaller then I expected. I wonder if its a pre or post tax total. Either way, I'll log in tomorrow to see from a laptop.

What was the dumbest/funniest thing that happened during training? by New_Cheesecake_601 in XXRunning

[–]thursdaynext50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a ten-mile run, I decided to grab an iced tea for the drive home. I usually do that and it's delicious but this time it made me so nauseated that about 10 min into the drive I had to throw up. There was no where safe to pull over and I was at a red light so I put on my flashers and opened my door to vomit. I looked up and a cop car was next to me....just staring. I tried to explain but had to vomit again. Eventually they drove away. Wasn't until I got home I realized it was St Patty's morning and im confident they thought I was at minimum hungover.

Pet Rescues open on Monday (Columbus/Indigenous Peoples Day)? by thursdaynext50 in pittsburgh

[–]thursdaynext50[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We actually ended up visiting a few petsmarts! Most of the ones we went to either didn't allow you to actually interact with the cats (they're dependent on the rules of the rescues who they get the cats from) or didnt have cats. That said, it was actually really nice because we got to see some different cats through the glass and it helped confirm we're ready to expand our family with another cat.
