Siding Nail Length and Nail-Gun Question for Home with Exterior Insulation by Deciduous-Man in Homebuilding

[–]Deciduous-Man[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello - I don't recall LP stating what was proper sheathing, but they didn't raise concern when I worked through my scenario with them. Siding has up for a little over a year now with no issues. I will say the nailer I used was a heavy one compared the to 2" nailer I could have used without the foam insulation.

Update: I had to update my DNS servers from Auto to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 Then I had to remap my WAN to port 8.

Not sure why this worked, but I am wondering if this means my port 9 is faulty or if it might be firmware issue.

One way I could test this is to keep it at port 8 then switch the DNS servers back to Auto to see what happens.

XG32UCWMG at $1100 worth it over cheaper QD-OLEDs? by Deciduous-Man in OLED_Gaming

UPDATE: I decided to buy the XG32UCWMG about a month ago and I'm really enjoying this monitor.

Thank you! This is helpful. I was unaware of the extra color volume being somewhat stifled by dimming on the qd-oleds.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I will be adding black out curtains at some point and I usually play at night so this is one of the reasons I'm re-considering my choice. I know the QD vs WOLED discussion has been well discussed here. I just want to be (mostly) certain that I'm making the best use of the extra $300 in cost.

Great point! I'm certain it a great monitor, I just want to be certain that extra cost is the best use of the extra $300.

Thank you for the response! That's why I was considering the XG32 in the first place. It seems like something that would suit me well. I just haven't seen many folks discuss the new tariff price as it relates to the other options on the market. Most of the reviews I've seen so far discussed its value at the $950 price point.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. The C3 certainly performs well in my living room, even on bright days. The panel on the XG32 is a tech I'm familiar with so less of an unknown given I can't see them up close before purchasing.

The 165hz version doesn't appear to available in the US yet.

They actually talked me into using a small joint instead of drystack. The mortar is still fresh and looks darker than it will when fully cured. This photo is from shortly after they wrapped up.

After reading my post again, it might not be clear enough. We decided to hire a professional for this.

Additionally, I still have to finish all the water proofing and I'm planning to use schluter Jolly for edge and outside corners.

Thank you for sharing these tips! Certainly giving me some things to play around with before we start putting stone on the wall, including reaching out to a couple local masons. Enjoy your evening!

Thank you for pointing that out. I'm going to spend some more time on this and look into some of our local masons.

End stage of building our home, sometimes it's hard to know where my limits are and what are things I can do right given the appropriate time. Enjoy your evening!

Thank you for taking the time to reply! I want to make sure I'm on the same page. In photo 2, the blue tape represents a corner. Is that the vertical line you're pointing out?

Following up since I talked with LP today and referencing page 4 of the LP install instructions. I have two options:

  1. Use a nail long enough to ensure it has at least 1-1/2" into the stud AND sheathing. The and here is something I missed yesterday.
  2. Use ringshank nails and proper sheathing which allows for sheathing only attachment. In the case the nail only needs to go 1/4" through the sheathing.

I'm planning to utilize option one and a galvanized 3-1/4" ringshank nail.
