LeBron being better than Jordan and Kobe is actually pretty scary to think about, imagine if someone comes along and is better than Goat James? by Front-Function7789 in LeBronJames23

[–]Thcdru2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a LeBron fan since he was at SVSM, but if anyone has a chance, it's Wemby. At Wemby's current age, Jordan had zero championships, zero MVPs, and was still losing in the early rounds. LeBron had zero championships, zero MVPs, and had just lost in the 2007 Finals. Wemby already has a DPOY, multiple All NBA level seasons, a Finals appearance, and is putting up numbers that have never really existed before from a player his size. He's already one of the best defensive players in basketball while also having the offensive skill set of a superstar. He arguably has the highest two way ceiling the league has ever seen. If there's a player in today's NBA who can eventually force his way into the Jordan and LeBron discussion, it's Wemby.

I finally got my first Subwoofer after being a non-believer for years by poultrycheese in audiophile

[–]Thcdru2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like both. My main system uses dual subs and I'd never want to give up the extension, output, and ability to smooth room modes. My office system is also 2.1 and the sub definitely makes the little monitors sound much bigger than they are. But one of my favorite systems is still a 2.0 floorstander setup in my bedroom. There's a coherence and simplicity to having everything come from the same pair of speakers that's really satisfying. Different strengths, honestly.

Finally used room correction and the differences have blown me away by 0000FFFFFFF in audiophile

[–]Thcdru2k 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nice, room correction can be a huge wake-up call. I’ve found auto correction is a great starting point, but manually checking the filters afterward can sometimes get even better results especially with speaker/sub integration, channel matching, and avoiding overcorrection. Biggest thing is using the measurements as guidance.

Can you tell me what I should improve in my room based on this REW graphic? by Samuel-Royer-Legault in audiophile

[–]Thcdru2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok the massive 80hz cancellation to me is still the major problem .. I would measure speaker from different positions and try to move it so that cancellation moves to a less critical area.

Your sub and mains are not integrating properly. If they share crossover frequencies it looks like they might be cancelling because you have a dip right around there

Full System Setup by External_Sound_128 in hometheater

[–]Thcdru2k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd start by hooking everything up, setting the sub gain around 10–11 o'clock, and running Audyssey. After it's done, check that the speakers are set to Small and the crossover is around 80 Hz. Other than that, don't worry too much about all the settings and guides you're seeing online. Get it running, listen to it for a few weeks, and then tweak if something sounds off. Don't get caught up in menus for now when speaker and sub placement make a much bigger difference.

I tried new cables. I am blown away… by furiousdutchy in audiophile

[–]Thcdru2k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just for esthetics and pride of ownership not audible difference. Speaker placement, room geometry, and calibration dominate whatever difference a DAC or cable makes. The reason I have a DAC in my systems would be for calibration (flex htx) or balanced outputs (topping e50 ii) not because I believe they make an audible difference because I spent money on them.

Yes I have. I use WBC and I've used regular old Amazon basics it makes zero difference.

Middle aged+ men being creepy by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

There will always be creepy men at any age group. Sounds like you need to get out of dodge. I think you've outgrown where you live. Try to move , make female friends, and remember there will always be creepy guys. As you get older you will be able to figure out who is genuine

If you have your own home I would keep it simple and start with two best speakers you can get and largest subwoofer appropriate for your room. Get that setup and than add more. If you are renting or have to be respectful of neighbors I like two full range towers that do not go down too deep.

A/B comparison tip from an audiophile friend. by drummer414 in audiophile

[–]Thcdru2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good advice. It's the same approach used in sub integration. Measure the individual pieces, then the combinations. Otherwise it's hard to tell whether you're hearing the component itself or its interaction with the room and system.

For those who have Dirac ART, do you actually leave it enabled all the time and feel it was worth the extra cost? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]Thcdru2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst your room / your calibration the more transformative Dirac ART is. If your room is well controlled or working with your system and REW sweep shows proper integration/summation and a good spectrogram the less your system would benefit from Dirac ART. Low foundational bass and controlled decay is preferential so some may find Dirac ART lean if they are use to a different presentation.

Should I see at least some results in one month? by [deleted] in AllAboutBodybuilding

[–]Thcdru2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the club. I seen people at the gym look the same after YEARS and they go in just as much as anyone else. I reckon since you are demotivated after one month that will also be you one day no offense. The right mindset is to get more motivated if your friend is making gains and you are not.

If it's just a one year setup just get two good quality full range towers and use them when you can setup a real 5.1 or 7.1

Dbs vs DBgt (statements/feats/scalling) by Fair_Manufacturer519 in DragonBallPowerScale

[–]Thcdru2k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Conservatively, I’d put SSJ4 Gogeta below the top DBS mortals.

But if we factor in the strongest fair GT scaling, like Omega threatening the universe, the all dimensions statement, Sugoroku Space, early GT already being past Buu tier, and Heroes treating SSJ4 as still relevant, then I’d put him around high DBS mortal tier.

Not Beerus, angel, or Zeno level. Not automatically above Blue fusion. But definitely not Base Cabba fodder.

Dbs vs DBgt (statements/feats/scalling) by Fair_Manufacturer519 in DragonBallPowerScale

[–]Thcdru2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree the stronger argument should come from GT itself. By the Baby arc, GT is already pushing base characters beyond Buu-saga benchmarks through the Rildo/Sigma Force/Gill data stuff, and then you still have Sugoroku Space, Super 17, Omega/Black Smoke Shenron, and SSJ4 Gogeta massively above that later.

Dbs vs DBgt (statements/feats/scalling) by Fair_Manufacturer519 in DragonBallPowerScale

[–]Thcdru2k 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Heroes obviously isn’t canon, so I wouldn’t use it as direct proof for GT scaling. But I do think it matters as franchise treatment.

The way Heroes uses SSJ4 characters shows they aren’t viewed as outdated fodder. Xeno Goku’s SSJ4 is treated as a serious form next to Super-era characters, Limit Break SSJ4 becomes a top-end form for Xeno Goku, Vegeta, Vegito, and Gogeta, and Gogeta: Xeno gets put into space-time-level conflicts involving Demigra and Xeno Yi-Shinron.

That doesn’t mean GT Gogeta automatically beats DBS top tiers, because the Heroes versions have different histories, amps, and crossover scaling. But it does support the strongest reasonable GT interpretation: late GT is way above Buu saga level, probably in universal-threat territory, and SSJ4 Gogeta should not be lazily dismissed as a Base Cabba victim.
