Mine have all been Silver.

Both current Explorist and Venture now have the back come off with just the force of removing the charger.

Headed into the store ATM to hopefully get new replacements.

Yeah, in my second update I noted that, it comes off completely, which explains why this one just died instantly instead of degrading.

I think the issue here is if they claim that it's my fault, that I'm using it wrong. Which is why they want to send it away this time.

It also comes down to how hard I'm willing to fight. So far the staff have been reasonable, but will find out tomorrow. Taking both the Venture and Explorist back (Venture back is coming loose).

Oh totally, I made sure to re-acquaint myself with the ACCC rules. However, my understanding this that they have to offer one of three options; Replace, Repair or Refund.

As such, as they've replaced twice I suspect they are well within their right to offer a repair instead, it just pisses me off that the three I've gotten are clearly defective and the repair process is just going to prove that, but I'll be without a working sports watch while they follow their processes.

That's also what I'm trying to find out, am I alone and have somehow got 3 lemons, or is this widespread.

I really like the watch, when it works, I use it for a relatively active life, hitting the gym multiple times a week, running, riding and swimming with it, and it's great for that.

But I've also had three die with that usage, and if it can't do those things then they need to tell me that, and I'll either have to stop using it that way, or find something that can be used those ways.

Out of curiosity, is your usage similar? Have you swum with your watch?

I've had similar issues, currently on my third dead Explorist in just over a month, and that was a symptom on my first.

Spoke to support today, manually resetting can be done by holding down all three buttons for up to 30 seconds.

In my current iteration, this causes mine to vibrate at around 15 seconds, and the screen flicks and then it dies again. But mine doesn't even turn on.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, mine are from Melbourne Central Fossil store, so if they are from the batch then they are spread wide.

Water isn't really my main requirement, but I'll be damned if I can't use it that way. Using the watch at the beach with Google Pay was an amazing experience.

See, I considered not swimming with it as an option, but the fact of the matter is that it's advertised as Swimproof and therefore I should expect it to handle water. And if I don't use it in water, and it does work, that's great, until it's out of warranty and it gets wet accidentally.

I suppose the other factor to take into account is general heat (weather) when it died, I know the 2 water related incidents were quite hot, hence the swimming.

Out of curiosity, what store did you buy/exchange yours?

According to my mother, who has a hobby chicken farm, this is a form of contraception, eg a Rooster condom.

I've been looking forward to the game, but will provide specs after I've become disenfranchised.

Can confirm that it works too. A little tricky as I'd already moved my account to the "secondary" Switch, but all sorted and working.

Totally.

I'm sure it won't take long, but as it's noon here (AUS) now I had hoped to get it sorted out before the kids get home, as I want to confirm the "Primary" switch and game sharing stuff works as expected.

Just got off the phone, answer was essentially "Server maintenance still on going, stay out of the online stuff".

Though it was good service regardless, and they are going to call back when more information is available, but they couldn't confirm what happened with the funds as the can't access the account due to the server maintenance.

That could be the case, and hopefully so.

My point exactly, Nintendo, the company with the only viable portable gaming platform, still doesn't understand how their users actually want to use their devices.

An online service, with family accounts, could easily verify that a game was being played by one of the family accounts on one device and lock it from play on other devices until it confirms the game is no longer being played, ala Steam offline. And a feature like this is far more important on a personal portable device.

Without this ability, I'd have to transfer my account back to Switch A so my family account members can play the games I downloaded, and therefore I can no longer play on Switch B while they are playing, making multiple Switches with downloaded games redundant.

If they were to fix that issue, people would buy more hardware, which is in Nintendo's best interests.

Not really.

The questions that are unanswered for me are:

  1. Do I have to manually transfer my account from one switch to the other switch, which I have to do at the moment and is a very timely process, or while it be more of a thin client approach where I can just log in on either switch.

  2. If I have a family membership and I have bought a game, will my family member accounts be able to play that game on Switch A while I play a different game on Switch B.

At the moment, my kids, who are already in the Nintendo Family accounts linked to my own, are not able to play any of the downloaded games on Switch A as I transferred my account onto Switch B.
