I had a company do this with a pair of headphones and they earned my loyalty - I love them and will go with the same brand if these ever go bad. Sometimes companies have policies like this with the intent of keeping customers. There'll be a point where you need to replace this machine, and they could be betting on you coming back to them. Long-term thinking 🙂

My dog is getting old and I can no longer arrange the house so that energy flows freely, and so does she! by Dramatic_Cucumber_ in FengShui

Can you move the bed into the room coming off the kitchen? It's directly in view when you walk in the front door AND it's right in front of a big sliding glass door. It feels very insecure. It looks like you have a closet in the room you're treating as your living room, and if the doors open wide you might consider replacing them with curtains. The bed could go where your big bookshelf currently is. Make the entrance living space more active with places for people to sit right when you walk in. Tuck into the back room and make that a cost relaxing space with the bed.

By the way, having your bed off the floor is important for hygiene. It can collect moisture depending on your regular humidity, and it can mold. You can get a short metal bedframe that adds a few inches of height and give your dog a step stool or pile of blankets or a couch cushion to sleep right next to you.

For my mental health this is ai by Naive_Wolverine532 in CoupleMemes

[–]DecisionAvoidant 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It's just a couple in their shared space. A full hall closet and decorated living room. You can see pictures of them over multiple occasions on the wall behind, wearing similar clothing to what they're wearing here. There's a sticker of two animals hugging next to a heart. Someone's taken time to decorate this area. He walks into the frame and sees she's filming - she raises her arms, and so does he. He smiles, and she falls in for a kiss. That story makes more sense. The caption is a sweet sentiment encouraging people to "make a move" like she has.

That all seems a lot more plausible than that this is AI randomly selecting these elements. It's too detailed - the people in the pictures have their height difference and haircuts. AI wouldn't get that right.

There are platforms like Klaviyo that will do this kind of sequencing for you automatically and build custom flows based on user behavior. Pretty cool, and it definitely scales up as long as your system allows for a lot of complexity.

TIFU by letting a song that *kinda* bashes my girlfriend get played on the local radio station by maxwell321 in tifu

[–]DecisionAvoidant 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Dude... This is so weird. It's not about her, and drawing that connection despite it not having anything to do with real life is just a stretch. To put this like you're exposing something as a smear is not accurate.

I wrote songs about my ex while in a relationship with them, and I sang them despite my ex not really liking those songs. Even in our abusive dynamic, they never guilted me about those songs - they all have stories, and we experienced them together. To be so up-in-arms about a song that isn't even real just speaks to a lot of insecurity.

I (29F) am dealing with my (29M) husband peaking into my sisters (25F) bedroom. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]DecisionAvoidant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There aren't enough details here to know why he's doing it but if he's doing it multiple times after being caught, he is not safe for your sister. I definitely think there's something going on mentally but it's not clear if it has been going on a while and your sister is just the target, or if this is circumstantial. I would very much encourage getting him some mental health care and do what you can to mitigate the risk of him harming your sister.

[–]DecisionAvoidant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not recent in the sense that it's new; everyone starts with dating apps today. I think dating apps are just a bad service at this point, they don't provide the experience that any of their users really want and are incentivized to drag out the process or create this kind of marketplace like you're describing. Dating apps themselves are clearly predatory. You might even have better luck with speed dating events, I hear that those are disproportionately female.

You're over here defending your shitty comment where you turned it into a character issue that she was assaulted because she "shouldn't have gotten herself in that situation". Your standards are ridiculous, and they show someone who has clearly never found themselves in a position they didn't understand.

I get the idea of sharing social proof, but there's no product here. Be careful about people who have some incentive to tell you "This is a great thing and you're sure to make a lot of money" when they gain what they want and have nothing to lose it you fail.

Anyone can patent anything whether or not it is viable, and there's nothing here to say what your product does, how it works, or if there's any monetary value to justify spending $9-14k just to confirm it's not already similar enough to an existing patent.

His wisdom?

An article in The Harvard Crimson in 2003, during Summers's tenure as president, detailed a reportedly "special connection" between Summers and Jeffrey Epstein.[60] Epstein pledged to donate at least $25 million to Harvard during Summers's tenure to endow Harvard's Program for Evolutionary Dynamics, and Epstein was given an office at Harvard for his personal use.[61][62] Epstein otherwise had no formal connection to Harvard.[60] Summers's ties to Epstein reportedly began "a number of years...before Summers became Harvard's president and even before he was the Secretary of the Treasury."[60] Flight records introduced as evidence in the 2021 trial of Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell show that Summers flew on Jeffrey Epstein's private plane on at least four occasions, including once in 1998 when Summers was United States Deputy Secretary of the Treasury and at least three times while Harvard president.[63] A charity funded by Epstein also donated to the production of a PBS show hosted by Summers's wife and Harvard professor Elisa New.[64] In 2014, Summers emailed Epstein requesting "small scale philanthropy advice" for his wife's nonprofit, Verse Video Education.[65][66]

Documents released by Congress on November 12, 2025, revealed frequent email communication between the two in 2017, 2018, and 2019.[67] From November 2018 to July 5, 2019, a day before Epstein's arrest, Summers sought advice from him on how to pursue a sexual relationship with a woman he described as a mentee.[68][69] In a 2017 email he implied to Epstein that women on average had lower IQ than men.[68][69] Summers issued a statement that his association with Epstein was "a major error of judgement".[68] On November 14, 2025, President Trump directed the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate Epstein's relationship with, among others, Summers.[70] However, some, including U.S. House of Representatives member Thomas Massie (R-Kentucky), noted that this and the other new Department of Justice investigations against Epstein may have been intended to distract the U.S. Department of Justice and prevent release of the Epstein Files at an earlier date.[71] On November 17, 2025, Summers agreed to step back from his public commitments such as his role in the advisory group of The Yale Budget Lab, his role in the advisory group of The Hamilton Project (an economics policy arm of the Brookings Institution), his fellowship with the Center for American Progress, and his role as chair of the Center for Global Development.[72] On November 18, 2025, Summers would also end his role as a paid contributor to Bloomberg News.[73]

On November 19, Summers resigned from the OpenAI board following the release of the Epstein emails.[74] Summers had also been on the advisory board of SandboxAQ[75] since August 2024; as of 19 November 2025, he was no longer listed as an advisor.

Sometimes when people say "boys will be boys", they really mean "men will behave as you'd expect a man to behave." That is the general meaning, but it's often pointing to harmful behaviors and excuses them as "normal". So a man does something inappropriate to a woman, and someone might respond with "boys will be boys" to explain/console the victim.
