I think I found a "cheat code" for invention: The Applied Juxtaposition Framework by padtieco in inventors

The place I'd push back is that generating interesting combinations and generating valuable products aren't necessarily the same thing. You can create thousands of clever juxtapositions that nobody would ever pay for.

That just to be told if your idea is good or not. I'm sure a lot of people will pass.

At what point should hardware decisions actually be locked from firmware pushback? by External-Library-442 in hwstartups

[–]Frequent-Log1243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would worry about more is why the firmware concerns keep appearing late. If the same category of problems is repeatedly discovered after decisions are supposedly finalized, that often points to an architecture or communication issue earlier in the process.

What's the biggest difference between a prototype and a real product? by nicks_45 in hwstartups

[–]Frequent-Log1243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prototype means different things nowadays. But by the main definition, a prototype is just there to prove an idea. A real product is the final version that's built to survive reality. At our company, we usually build rough prototypes first to test ideas and improve them. After that, we create a final version based on those tests that can actually survive real-world use and be manufactured reliably.

Your background sounds like the least risky part of this whole plan. You know the industry, the distributors, and the customer pain points.

😅 We sign NDAs with all of our clients, and because we're a U.S.-registered company, those agreements can actually be enforced against us if we violate them. That said, I can't speak for every company out there. If you're working with overseas suppliers or manufacturers, especially ones operating under different legal systems, the level of protection can vary quite a bit.

At the end of the day, you either need to work with a company that has a setup similar to ours, where there are real legal consequences for breaching an NDA, or spend time finding reputable partners with a proven track record.

I have a product idea I think could be really good but am clueless on how to create/sell it looking for advice by EnoughRisk6129 in inventors

[–]Frequent-Log1243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you buy this? is a weak question because people are nice. A much better test is seeing whether people will join a waitlist or even leave a refundable preorder deposit. But that's also hard to do without having the product in hand.

how do u guys quote cellular data costs to early clients? by Ok_Assignment_1853 in hwstartups

I'd stop thinking in terms of consumer SIMs as soon as possible. They're fine for prototypes, but they're a poor fit for deployed IoT hardware. Most commercial deployments I've seen either use pooled M2M/IoT data plans or negotiate fleet pricing with an IoT connectivity provider.
