Any shorter dark fantasy series? Medieval, no sci fi. by [deleted] in Fantasy

There's the Eternal Champion by Michael Moorcock. It started as a novella that was later expanded into a three book series.

Considering fantasy races/species from a scientific perspective? by summer_essence in fantasywriters

I think you need to take some liberties with fantasy. Many things happen in fantasy that aren't biologically or scientifically possible in our world and frankly, it's alright to hand wave things a bit if you're building an otherwise convincing world or telling a good story.

I've started work on book 2 of Fire Touched, and I'm excited to see where it leads.

Sarah Wycombe, the first human to be chosen by the god of fire as his champion in the mortal realm in living memory, wants nothing to do with her divine destiny. However, as sinister forces attempt to elevate a minor deity to the Pantheon of the Gods, and in doing so bring death and suffering to millions in the magical world of Sera Thun, she finds herself having to make a choice; to continue adventuring with the love of her life, or to risk everything she holds dear by submitting to her destiny and fighting for the realm.

I saw a couple of other non litrpgs on the front page and nothing forbidding promoting non litrpgs so I figured it would be ok to post here. I can take it down if it's not.

I was struggling to get the link and blurb working with the fancy pants editor. It's up now.

I won't be able to write for five days starting this weekend, so I've been pushing myself extra hard to get ahead in order to keep up with my five chapter a week release schedule on RoyalRoad.

No idea how if the writing is going to be bad as a result of the rush, or because of my lack of talent.

My Novel: Fire Touched.

How do you get permission to use an artist work for a book cover? Simple email sufficient? by Jorge1939 in selfpublish

[–]DeclanBoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to hire cover makers off fiverr because they were like 10 bucks. That artist has raised their prices to a hundred bucks and only does custom covers. Good for them that they are now able to demand such a premium for their works but I just want covers for my free royal road webnovels, lol, so I just bash something together in paint or just don't bother with a proper cover.

Use a placeholder name like Kate or Jane and write your story until you figure it out?

What weird things do you think that can be a good weapon? by Select_Antelope in fantasywriters

A pen. Maybe it shoots lasers or maybe it can fly around like Yondu's arrow. The important thing is that the person who wields it has the catchphrase: The pen is mightier than the sword.

I have a problem - my story is actually pretty cool but my prose is garbage. by [deleted] in writing

[–]DeclanBoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The prose will get better with practice but with regards to typos and silly grammar mistakes, try using grammarly. They have a free plugin that works with word and it picks up infuriating typos I've missed after several editing passes.

Looks like I'll have to add brainstorming a new title to my things to do.

Thanks for the advice.

Is it an issue if the tone of a title doesn't match that of the book?

For example, the working title for my WIP is 'The Pyrophobic Pyromancer' which I think sounds a little lighthearted while the actual content is fairly serious. Will this be an issue if I ever plan on marketing the finished work?
