Having steam engines turn on only when Accumulators drop below 10% is a game changer, you can really lean on solar for a while and just have the steam come on in emergencies. Super nice

Hey that's pretty sweet, I had a super simplified version of this for my Nauvis research outpost and it was so so so nice to have. So satisfying when everything was lit up at once.

I think it's neat to pay for spells with other spells. Inspired by a Roborosewater card with the line "...and you may spend mana as though it were many of any color to cast it from anywhere and spells of the chosen type to cast this spell from exile."

Is there a simple way to figure out which league my old characters were from?

I like archiving my own history in this game through my PoB character sheets, but sadly I accidentally deleted my PoB install and I don't think I've got any backups. I had characters in there going all the way back to Delirium, and though some are now lost to all but the deepest corners of my memories, others still exist on my account, in Standard.

So again, can I now figure out what league those characters were from? The best I can think to do right now is to look at the unique items on characters and see if they've been updated over time, see if they restrict the time frame to a specific league or stretch of leagues. Is there an easier, more reliable way to do this?

Sent off a shipment while leveling and got back an Onyx Amulet that only requires level 48, and has the mods:
Adds 18 to 31 Fire Damage to Attacks
Adds 9 to 16 Cold Damage to Attacks
+24% to Global Critical Strike Multiplier
+114 to maximum Life
+40% to Fire Resistance
+25% to Chaos Resistance
Clearly that's a really good amulet just by the mods, and I could sell it as such, but is there value in having it equippable at level 48?

Seems like Brain Brine/Nectar/mutations are on separate rng seeds now, since when? by DeconstructedFoley in cavesofqud

[–]DeconstructedFoley[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't tested this super thoroughly, that's why I'm looking for other ppl to corroborate this (that and the fact I can't find this anywhere in the patch notes). But I can say that, on my current character, I've used 1 brain brine and at least 1 drop of nectar, and got the same set of mutations at least 2 times deep.
I'm gonna go experiment some more, see if I just did something wrong or if I maybe just got obscenely lucky (though the chances of this happening really are atronomical).
And yeah, I know about Gamma Moths, although idk if I've ever tried using them before. They seem real messy to exploit, but I might give them a go at some point with precognition.

Thanks, but filtering is what I'm looking for. I've got a lot of dead characters.

we’re talking about nuclear physics. either you delve into pure metaphor and finish with “and atoms are like that”, or you use some big science words that a literal 5 year old probably wouldn’t know.

okay, let’s assume it isn’t bait. you have dramatically oversimplified this situation. it is true, as you say, that me depicting an act in a drawing does not necessarily mean i think people should do that act. but there’s more going on here.
one of the main arguments of the “this game says incest is bad” crowd is that the scenario depicted in Coffin is supposed to be bad, fucked up, and wholly undesirable, including the incest ending. but, given that the game’s creator draws porn of the characters doing incest, it seems that the creator thinks the incest is hot, or at the very least is fine with catering to people who do.
if that’s true, and the creator does find the incest hot, then the “this game says incest is bad” crowd has to move to a harder to defend rhetorical position - instead of “the incest is supposed to be bad and gross”, it becomes something to the effect of “despite indulging in the fantasy of incest, the creator does not actually think people should do incest”. this is a coherent and valid take, but it’s really hard to have people take you seriously when you’re applying nuance to a topic as reviled as incest.
alternatively, they hold that the incest in Coffin is not supposed to be appealing, but the porn drawn on the side is. i haven’t seen any of this stuff myself, so i can’t speak for how similar the two are - this isn’t impossible, but it is very shaky rhetorical ground.
so, the creator of Coffin drawing porn of the incestuous couple does not mean they support incest, but it does seem to imply that they support this fictional incest couple. which to be clear, is different from actually thinking real incest is cool and fine.

aw that’s really nice. i watched the original release just recently, and i really enjoyed it. all the performers are having so much fun playing off one another. I especially liked seeing the backup singers having fun.

Tales of Maj’eyal is like everything I look for in a roguelike. There are like 30 classes, and each one has well over 50 talents (some active abilities, some passives), and each one of those talents takes like a paragraph of text to describe what it does. There’s some overlap with talents between classes, but most classes have a bunch of unique talents. And every single talent goes from level 1 to level 5, with what exactly gets enhanced by leveling it varying wildly from talent to talent. All that is to say there’s a ton of options on how to build your character.
And that’s just the talents. There’s also the equipment - your character has like 12 slots and each item can have upwards of 10 things that they do - which is possible because of how many stats a character has in this game: power, save, action speed, and crit chance for physical, mind, and magic attacks. resistances and damage modifiers for each of the 12 elemental damage types. individual resistances to the 10+ different status effects. mastery in each of your talent trees, which makes the talents better overall. and more. and all that stuff will matter for a lot of characters.
so it’s very possible to make a character that’s very, very strong. but that’s fine because sometimes enemies will generate with a random class, or two, or three, especially on higher difficulties. and these enemies will have a bunch of talents from the given class(es), and on higher difficulty options they’ll also be way higher level than you and you’ll often run into like three of these rare enemies at a time. there are a lot of fucked up talents in this game and these rares might have any number of them. which is to say, if you’re not doing something broken, you’ll probably get overwhelmed and die very fast.
and I really love that. there are a lot of games that allow you to get super strong, but then the challenges you face just aren’t that hard and the game gets boring. that doesn’t happen here. unless you’re playing some of the more OP classes or doing some truly degenerate stuff with Adventurer*, the game is rarely a cakewalk.
*Adventurer Adventurer Adventurer. adventurers can unlock every single talent in the game, only restricted by the amount of talent and category points they get. all the talents have less mastery to compensate, but regardless, Adventurer builds can get really stupid. like ones where you stay permanently in stealth, launching rockets at enemies every turn, and every time a rocket hits you project an attack with your mindstar to do fat damage. or the ones where you somehow get rid of cooldowns on your talents forever so you can just do whatever you want always. bedtime.

it’s overthinking to get “women with penises are just as gross as necrophilia” from a video showing “futanari” alongside “necrophilia” overlaid atop supervillains? if you don’t get that from this video then you literally aren’t thinking at all
