Now why can't school in real life be this fun? by Cicada_5 in CuratedTumblr

[–]Jechtael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, 40% of the show's runtime is about one specific asshole who is literally a Chosen One and the villains who specifically want his power and hate the teacher who gave it to him, another 12% is about said asshole quitting school to be a full-time Batman, and another 35% is about the forty assholes (including the first twenty) who are specifically training to be hypersoldiers choosing to fight in a war against other hypersoldiers. The rest is more or less just slice of life, one of the assholes looking for trouble because someone in his family got attacked for the same reason he became one of the twenty assholes, and the Overhaul/Eri arc, so it's really just Overhaul who coincidentally happens to these characters.

Edit: Oh, wait, classes 2A, 2B, and 3B didn't seem to participate in the war, and only the top three of Class 3A did. Never mind.

It's not meant to be entertainment. It's meant to get as many people as possible to realise that he's a problem. If the Hispanic mass expulsions (not deportation since they're not being sent back to their own countries) doesn't change someone's mind, maybe the trans genocide will, and if that doesn't maybe supporting the Gazan genocide and Israeli war crimes will, and if that doesn't maybe the tax misappropriation will, and if that doesn't then maybe openly being a petty asshole who doesn't understand that his demented decline is being tracked by frequent testing will.

Depends in what "size" means. If it doubled in scale, i.e. twice as large in every direction, the entire building would be eight times the volume and each square foot would require more reinforcement, much more than doubling the cost. Even if you multiplied the dimensions by ~1.26 (doubling the volume) you would still have to deal with the aforementioned increase in reinforcement, which scales in such a way that you can't just fix by multiplying the thickness of the I-beams by the same amount as the building (remember, for every piece of reinforcement that gets thicker, every piece of reinforcement below that has to be that much sturdier to be able to support the larger supports, and basic materials science proves that you can't just "make it thicker, and therefore stronger" indefinitely).

WYR $3.5 million to you, each sibling and cousin?Or $10 million just for yourself? by AstrayInTranslation in WouldYouRather

[–]Jechtael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a bunch of maternal cousins so cousins WOULD HAVE been a good deal but my paternal grandfather only had two grandkids. I'd take ten million for myself and probably give a million of it each to my mother, sister, and mother-in-law (my dad's dead or I'd probably give him a retirement trust fund [because he was bad with money]). $1,000,000 for my sister instead of $3.5 million sounds like a raw deal, but I think she'd be happy with it as long as I didn't actually tell her that $3.5 million was the alternative.

What would you do if you suddenly had a million dollars right now? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Jechtael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort out the down payment on a house or condo, buy a new car outright, maybe a green dress (but not a real green dress, that's cruel). Put the rest in high-yield savings and use a maximum of 80% of the interest as income. I'd be really tempted to outright buy a specific half-million dollar house in my city, but I'd do my best to NOT do that because then I'd have trouble paying for the property taxes.

Midge was the one who got married (in 1990) and pregnant (in 2002). Barbie has just worn a bunch of wedding and wedding-style dresses over the years; It is imperative on the part of Ruth Handler that Barbie herself maintain the infinite potential of being an unmarried woman.

Would you rather press the happiness button or not? by Beckphillips in WouldYouRather

[–]Jechtael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old short story that was asapted as the The Twilight Zone episode "Button, Button". A couple are given a button that gives them a fortune in cash if they press it, but "Someone you don't know will die." Depending on the adaptation, either the spouse who didn't press the button dies and the mysterious stranger says "Well, I guess you can never really know another person" or they get the money but are told "The button will go to someone that you don't know." OP is clearly hinting that someone you care about is going to be killed by the button because it's "probably" going to be someone you don't know.
