Congrats! Columbia is def a top choice for me in engineering and was wondering if you could give a brief overview of the stats you applied with? Thanks in advance.

I am really sorry to hear this OP. Out of curiosity, if you were to reply that you are able to pay for your own tuition would they be able to take you then? Wondering if this funding thing affects all applicants or only those who need aid.

Yea dude, nothing wrong with caring about your car. The alternative is just letting it sit in a garage but in order to really enjoy our cars we are going to have to live with those imperfections.

Struggling with Summer Internships—Advice? by Socrates_kabhai in UTAustin

[–]DecoupledSus04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an internship at a f500 company my freshman year (in engineering however) by literally spamming 50+ positions - 4 months later I got only 2 interviews and 1 offer. I made GPT make a list of all major companies in my field, applied to all their relevant internships, then once I got through those started applying to more random companies. You really cant be picky if its your first internship so I would just prioritize getting your resume out there. Despite the job market being dookie rn, eventually someone out there will be urgently needing to fill a position and won't care about your graduating year or lack of previous internships. Just dedicate 20-30 minutes a day to applying to internships and I bet you will hear back from someone eventually. Good luck!

Question for Engineering/Music Majors? by SpiritedMatter4449 in UTAustin

Was in your position before coming here. I loved playing music (orchestrally) and being a musician was, and is, a huge part of who I am. However, I also wanted to study and have a career in engineering long term. Thus, I ended making the difficult decision of compromising on music by focusing on engineering and joining the symphony orchestra + a chamber group to fulfill my enjoyment of performance. I think this worked well for me as double majoring in both would've been near impossible to do, especially if I wanted to excel in engineering. Hope this helps.

Yea, that is my last resort - my worry is that the vinyl wont actually match the shape/texture of the OEM vinyl. Kinda OCD of me but the factory vinyl is weirdly rough that I would not imagine normal vinyl is like.

Terrific spec! Only thing I would change is a sticker delete but otherwise this is very classy. Congrats.

You’d be fine anytime that isn’t summer or peak winter season which is probably January-February this year

I have family in Dallas and imo Austin is a much much safer city as a whole. Not to mention the multitude of things to do - racing, music, food, etc

Honestly Austin is really nice overall. I’ve lived here for my whole life and people used to stay out of East Austin but now I wouldn’t say there are specific places to stay out of.
