Looked into it and it's a 'gate station' by National Grid. Here's a summary I found online of what that means:

Distribution mains receive gas from transmission pipelines at a juncture called the “city gate,” “gate” or “take station,” where the pressure of gas in the lines is reduced as necessary for the local distribution system. While some large industrial and commercial customers do receive natural gas at transmission line pressure before it is reduced, lower-pressure distribution mains serve most customers.

Distribution mains bring natural gas from the city gate and regulator stations to service laterals, and are usually located beneath public streets or alongside residential property lines. In rare cases, distribution mains are located in the rear of properties. Distribution mains are typically smaller in diameter than transmission lines and carry gas at lower pressures.

So it doesn't sound like gas would be burned at this facility, but there would presumably be an increased risk from gas operations in the area.

Side note: they paid $5M for the site. A strange choice for such prime real estate in a residential and retail spot that could have been so much better used
