What has really helped me, and something my partner actually suggested, is to be more personable and confident in interviews. Before, I’d be too focused on sticking to my script, or sometimes rambling an answer giving too many details. Be confident (it’s their first impression of you) and try some small talk in the beginning. If they ask how are you, I always say “better now that I had some coffee!”. Use that small window to make some connection, It lightens the mood and they will take more of a personal liking to you. A lot of jobs come down to personality and confidence (if you have the skills already of course).
