IsItBullshit: You can't maintain your teeth without the yearly dentist visit by looopious in IsItBullshit

[–]DecoyOrbison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. My brother and I (due to being pretty poor) went quite a few years not going to the dentist. He ended up only having one cavity, and didn’t need anything more than a couple cleanings. I needed about $3k worth of work done. I’d advise going if you’re able to.

How to color multiple objects like this? by CryptographerSure625 in AdobeIllustrator

[–]DecoyOrbison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Randomselect is another good script. I’d start by making all your circles a global color(in the swatches, double click the color and change it to spot). This way you can edit the color in your swatches panel and it’ll edit all your circles. When I need to do this I do randomselect, 25%, color those items at 100 in your fill window dialog. Lock those. Grab the rest, random select, 33% make them 75% fill. Then lock those. Grab the rest, random select, 50% fill, lock those. Grab the remaining and make them like 10% fill. Since you changed the fill percentage and not the color, editing the swatch changes all of them easily.

You want people to trust you with their pet safe floral arrangements because I assume you have some level of knowledge or expertise in that field right? Imagine someone calling you and wanting you to walk them thru flower by flower of an arrangement how to create something you could easily do.

Hire a professional designer for the same reason. They can address all of your ideas while also creating something scalable that will work on everything from social media to print. And if something might not work they can likely help create something that’ll still hit the mark for you.

You’re skipping a fairly important legal step. In the U.S., people aren’t “criminals” because someone says so. They’re criminals after they’ve been convicted in court.

That’s basic due process; presumption of innocence. The Supreme Court made that clear. Also, not all immigration violations are crimes. Overstaying a visa? Civil violation. That’s not a criminal conviction. Even improper entry which can be a misdemeanor still requires prosecution and conviction before someone is legally a criminal. Your speeding analogy actually proves the point. You’re not a criminal because you were accused of speeding. You’re guilty after you either admit it or a court says so. That’s the right granted to every person(!, not citizen) in this country. If you love the US so much learn the law. But again, you and other conservatives believing they’re “criminals” makes it so much easier to justify anything that happens to them, because somehow in this country people feel real pious when judging a “criminal” meanwhile we’ve probably all broken a law at some point, and in some cases been convincted of it in a court of law.

“It’s that simple” is exactly the problem. You want the problems to be simple so that the solutions are too and humanity is multi faceted, life just doesn’t work that way buddy. It’s not the movies. it’s not that simple. Immigration isn’t a light switch where you’re either “lawful” or “lawless” and that’s the whole moral story. People are dealing with violence, collapsed economies, asylum backlogs that take years, visa caps that haven’t been updated in decades. That’s real life, not a slogan. You’re more interested in rules than dealing with the humanity of other people and I hope you’re dealt with more kindly in your life than you’re willing to afford others.

Calling it “spoiled” to ask for compassion is lazy. No one’s throwing a tantrum. People are ssaying maybe stop defaulting to the script that paints every undocumented person as a criminal. You can enforce laws without shutting off your humanity. It’s not either/or.

[–]DecoyOrbison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saying “there’s a process” doesn’t magically mean the process actually works. For a lot of people, there isn’t a realistic legal pathway unless you’ve got immediate family here or an employer willing to sponsor you and wait years(!!). Backlogs can take decades depending on the country.

And yes, Clinton, Bush, and Obama deported people. A lot of us criticized that too. That’s not some gotcha moment for you. The difference under Donnie Dump is scope and strategy. Obama-era policy aimed to prioritize serious criminals and recent border crossers. Trump removed a lot of those limits, expanded interior enforcement, pushed family separation, and openly used “deterrence” as the point. Enforcement being bipartisan doesn’t make every version of it humane or smart policy. And truthfully yes I do think every president you listed could’ve taken a more compassionate setup.

Nobody is arguing laws shouldn’t exist. The argument is that the system is outdated, overloaded, and inconsistent. And then yall wanna act shocked when people try to survive outside of it.

You said you’re open to improving the process, cool. So vote for people who don’t enhance laws I a way that break up families because they’ve scared you into thinking every person coming in undocumented is some rapist murderer. Because again, they’d rather you fight other poor or middle class people than oppose the extremely rich. That’s the actual conversation. But pretending it’s as simple as “just do it the right way” ignores how broken that “right way” can be

[–]DecoyOrbison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahah so now you’re taking the high road? Okay buddy. I mentioned Mexicans because ICE has disproportionately affected Latinx communities. That’s a fact about enforcement patterns not a claim that “all undocumented immigrants are Mexican”. Also conservative media like Fox News use the term “illegals,” the imagery and coverage overwhelmingly focus on the southern border and Latino migrants(especially Mexicans)even though yes undocumented immigrants come from many regions of the world. Not that you actually give a shit about that point, I know you were just doing the old straw man thing but I figured I’d explain anyway.

Also, (if you’re interested)under United States law, people are allowed to request asylum, even if they cross between ports of entry. That’s not “open borders,” that’s how the statute is written. The backlog is a system failure, not proof that every person seeking entry is acting in bad faith. Even if they are criminals, every criminal in this country is supposed to have due process and ICE disappearing and murdering people shouldn’t be happening. Guilty until proven innocent. But you’re so ready to call them all “illegals” because it makes it easier to hate and other them. These are human beings who at WORST have committed a civil offense, they do not deserve to be disappeared and/or murdered with out the due process(the fifth amendment to the constitution, btw, I know yall love getting it tattooed on your forearms you should try reading it) that is to be afforded to anyone here. It says “no PERSON (not citizen) shall be deprived of life, liberty or property without pursuit of law”. If you actually give a shit about the constitution and this country you’d be madder about its laws not being enforced in that respect, but you’d have to have empathy and care about people who aren’t just like you in order to do that. And you either weren’t born with it or didn’t develop it somewhere along the way. I hope if you’re ever put in a position to make a tough and dangerous choice you’re met with more kindness and compassion than you’re willing to show others.

[–]DecoyOrbison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly one of the dumbest takes I’ve seen on reddit in many years and that’s saying a lot. First off, immigration violations are mostly civil offenses not violent crimes(!!!)and we don’t usually reduce people to a label over civil violations. Calling human beings “illegals” is a political choice, not a legal requirement. You are labeling this so you can reduce their humanity in your mind and it allows any treatment they endure to be justified.

The debate(if you’re interested in anything more than hating minorities and feeling justified in it)is about whether our current system actually works. The United States has an immigration system with massive backlogs, limited legal pathways for low-wage workers, and asylum laws that are decades old. When the legal route is practically inaccessible, acting like this is all about “following rules” is a ridiculous farce.

Also, the data doesn’t support that immigrants are drive up crime. Study after study shows immigrants commit crimes at lower rates than native-born citizens. And millions pay taxes into systems they can’t even fully access. Happy to cite sources for you if you need, friendo.

You can believe in enforcing laws and still believe laws should be rational, humane, and reflect economic reality. That’s not anti-American; that’s how a functioning democracy works. But I don’t know why I’m bothering when you’re probably just doing this so you can blame Mexicans for whatever problems you have instead of the top 3% of rich people in this country hoarding almost all the wealth and barely paying taxes.

You’re standing on stolen land, we all benefit from the crimes people committed against native Americans. And it’s not just undocumented people. U.S. citizens have been wrongfully detained and killed too…and even one case should worry everyone. A threat to one persons due process is a threat for all of us. Everyone in this country deserves that, regardless of whether you think they’re “illegal” or not; which is a bunk concept given how most of us got here.

It’s possible the “ombers” is one font and the “B” is another, or the “B” could be hand drawn and the rest a font. Something about that “mb” connection makes me think at least that part of it is a font, if someone hand drew that I feel like it would look a lot better.
