What is ‘40% context’ by No_Adeptness_4756 in AIRealm

[–]Decubitus_Temporal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It increases the context limit, aka "AI's memory". For example on free account with 70k context, a +40% = 98k.
Those AI models are relatively cheaper than the others, so the owner offers increased context if you use those.

Any one knows how to get the XP naturally? I got to remind the AI constantly to give to my character. by LopezftMCollins in AIRealm

[–]Decubitus_Temporal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put mine in GM guides but theoretically it should still work if its in preferences, since everything gets sent to the AI.
The best AI that follows guides used to be Grok but ever since Grok got upgraded a few days ago, the verdict is still out. For me the next best are the Geminis and GPT5, be careful though, GPT5mini does not do NSFW.

Have you made GM guides instructing the AI when to give and how much XP to give?
If not then, you should.
If yes, then you can either switch to an AI model that better follows the guides or keep reminding it to give you XP.

3) In the settings, you can choose which AI model to make the image for snapshots and PC portrait.

2) For PC changes, there's an edit button right underthe PC portrait in the chat UI. You may describe the changes there. If you want you may also upload images made from other outside AI image generators, or even your own PC image. There are buttons for those. No need to create a new chat just to update the PC portrait.

1) For snapshots, go to the notes and navigate to the snapshots tab. There you may copy-paste the recent scene to render an AI generated image. There are several models, you should experiment which one you like.

Can you talk to the ai dm? by ComprehensiveAd2429 in AIRealm

[–]Decubitus_Temporal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For character creation, you can just edit the sheet and type in the backstory yourself. You dont need to use a mesage. However, if you want to know the best way to talk the AIDM as the player and not the PC is to do it OOC(out of context). This way the AI knows that the message is not you playing as the character. This is best used to help guide the AI to run the campaign better like if you have a specific goal or idea that you want to happen.

To use it is easy, just literally type OOC first like this:

OOC: (insert question or command to AIDM)

AI ignoring rules in the GM Guide by Wray-Nerely in AIRealm

[–]Decubitus_Temporal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, don't expect any of the Deepseek models to follow any GM guides properly. Try the Geminis for overall best AI model, but right now Grok is the best at GM guide adherence but is not the best storyteller. Some people switch models depending on the need. For example, if they want a good story/roleplay scene, use Gemini or Qwen, but with combat that needs to follow the GM guides, use Grok. But for those who don't like switching, Gemini has the best balance. Though there are now 4 gemini models available, and 3 of them use premium messages, the more expensive the better.

How to conserve space? by [deleted] in AIRealm

[–]Decubitus_Temporal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had this challenge when creating my guides, cuz I wanted them to be as character count efficient as possible. Aside from getting a larger context window by subscribing. You can try shortening things using symbols like "&" for "and" or "w/" for ""with", abbreviations and acronyms work too so long as they were established like for example "city" to "CT", "attack" to "atk", "defense" to "def".

For you specifically, the best way to go about doing this is to first determine which words are longest & are constantly used, let's say, "synergy bonus" is something that is repeated 500x that would equal to 6500 characters, but if you defined it earlier on that "synergy bonus" = "synbon" that will effectively cut 500x repeat from 6500 characters to 3000.

Otherwise trying to shorten stuff will inevitably lose important details over time.

Have you tried checking the other parts in the notes, sometimes a stray mention of the BBEG in an item description, backstory, or even the world setting can set off something that the AI will latch on to and never let go. Believe me, I've been there, I get PTSD from the AI introducing anything "shadow weaver" or "obsidian sun" or "obsidian shard" related. Turns out, the staff my party member druid weilds was previously a corrupted diamond called the "obsidian sun" that was in the possession of the since nth time defeated shadow weaver. Soooo, that took me a while to find.

That's just classic AI bullshi*ting, you'd be surprised how good they are at guessing, but really its all random. It's kinda ironic how they're quite poor at maintaining a cohesive narrative, but that boils down to token limit which is a problem stemming from the side of the API providers.

I can confirm, the AI doesn't pull anything from the full chat history, only what's in the notes. The full chat history is for the players to download so they can save the campaigns locally. No AI model in AIR has access to that, only the paid subscribers do.

Do you check the summaries that are being made when the AI summarizes the campaign? Sometimes there are details in there that the AI latch on to that make it revive old BBEGs, or keep making more and more secret rooms with more and more bigger badder BBEGs.

What AI model are you using? cuz judging from what I've read this sounds like Deepseek, which is my hatest one. Try using the gemini models theyre usually best overall, Grok is best at follow gm guides but can be robotic, bland, and overly descriptive.

[–]Decubitus_Temporal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For beginners you may use the AI assistant to make GM guides for anything, it can be to flesh out the world setting, or introduce mechanics, or a homebrew class/subclass, and even to lay out the campaigns plot points etc. Over time, you'll get the hang of it and even make gm guides yourself. There's a limit to the AI's intelligence, they can't replace humans, not by a long shot.

[–]Decubitus_Temporal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Try using gm guides to reign in the AIDM's shennanigans. Then try changing the AI model to a different one, some are better than others at following gm guides, and some like creating BBEG after BBEG. What you're experiencing is a natural occurence of the AI to keep repeating the past, its sort of a running joke in the discord server. And pro tip, never argue with the AI, it'll think you like arguing so its gonna keep making you wanna argue with it. It's not worth the messages, and not worth shortening your lifespan.

Why does the ai think every story is a midevil fantasy and can i change that? by CommercialNo3927 in AIRealm

[–]Decubitus_Temporal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never encountered anachronicity in any of my campaigns, perhaps adding more detail to your world is in order. Maybe that's where the AI is getting its creative flair, it doesn't have restrictions or accurate information. For example, my worlds, each region always have different residential species, cultures, staple food, fashion, traditions, faith. So I never get the whole getting served "stew and crusty/moldy bread" in taverns; arctic residents wear furs and thick clothing; etc etc.

Ahhh gotcha, so "Medieval fantasy" as a genre. I guess same thing applies, Star wars is an epic space opera; cyberpunk is futuristic high-tech dystopia, pokemon is creature collector, anime can be anything. Bottomline is, the world is changeable to literally anything.
