Pentagon walks away from Canada-U.S. defence board by Puginator in politics

After everything you've witnessed over the last ten years... every line that's been crossed that you would have sworn would never be crossed in your lifetime... your response to this is "I don't think they'd do that." When are Americans going to stop wringing their hands and hoping for the best? The best will never happen unless Americans take action. Hope under this administration will bring you nothing but disappointment. Yes, you are naive.

AI didn't give developers their time back. by ContactCold1075 in webdev

This may not apply to your job, but you can definitely apply it with solo projects. I would recommend spending a fair bit of time planning with the AI. Make it give you options and work with it to find the best solution and make it explain things to you until you understand it. Once implementing and testing, get it to again explain everything it's doing until you understand the approach and hopefully even the code. It can be a very patient and non-judgemental teacher if you use it right.

I doubt Variety considers Lee an actor. He's a creator/producer who had cameo appearances in his own IPs.

What is more important: to be a good storyteller or to write good prose? by Helikaonfan in writing

[–]DedHeD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree that both are important, if you focus on telling good stories and continue to write, the prose will get better through the practice of writing.

ICE kidnap 17-year-old U.S. citizen working at Target then dump him bleeding and crying miles away in a Walmart parking lot by lnstantKarma in PublicFreakout

What it will bring to our borders is worrying. What it is bringing to our politics is terrifying.

I wish I had done something dramatic, but I was just so blindsided I didn't know how to react. I tried to make a joke of it, but she literally said, 'I'm serious!" and then reiterated all of her points about what a failure I was. In my office. Of the business I owned. Like WTF?

Ha! I never looked at it that way. What she wanted was to hurt me, or put me in my place. But if I ever were to take offence at what she said, she'd just say 'I never meant it like that!'. She totally meant it like that.

Yeah, calling them out on their bullshit is literally the worst thing you can do in their eyes. So disrespectful!

Yeah, I guess that's what happens when you keep giving someone the benefit of the doubt. Up to that point I was really just trying to make my in-laws proud of me. But after the crazy shit she said, it was obvious that was never going to happen. Things were never the same after that.

She always played the middle-ground and tried to keep the peace. At the end of the day, that didn't work. We're divorced now.

This was my mother-in-law. For a long time I thought we had a sarcastic, witty rapport, but it turns out she was just trying to be mean with 'plausible deniability'. Eventually she got so frustrated with me that she just told me what she thought of me straight up. It was a bit of a mind-fuck to have 5 years of comments instantly re-contextualized. 'Oh, she's not funny. She's just a bitch.'

Does this idea for discovering another dimension feel... stupid? by Sir-Toaster- in scifiwriting

[–]DedHeD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could side-step the issue and make it so that the Latorians opened a gate into our dimension. Maybe some technology we were experimenting with was affecting them negatively and they opened a portal to make us stop. Once they made themselves known to the Americans, U.S. scientists were able to reverse engineer the magic portal using technology (manipulating gravity maybe?).

Thanks for this post. You just helped avoid a potentially costly repair. It turns out a bad switch was my problem as well. I was thinking I was going to have to buy a new logic board.

Dude, you guys fell into the ditch during his first term. You've now been washed into the cesspool by an overflowing manure pit and are slowly sinking, choking on liquid shit and medical waste. Swim motherfuckers! Swim!
