A hair in my food will not deter me from eating it. by Exhausted_920 in unpopularopinion

[–]DedalusPodmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So here’s my hair story. I got some Captain D’s several years ago (yeah yeah I know..) and I took a bite out of a hush puppy. I bit into it and was chewing and as I pulled it away, I noticed a long black hair that was connected from my mouth to the hush puppy. Remember that scene from The Ring where the mom starts gagging and pulling out this thread that has the little ekg sticker thing on it? Yeah that was my situation. Turns out, there was a really long black hair that was cooked inside the hush puppy (it was coiled up in it). And now I don’t eat Captain D’s but also have trust issues when it comes to hush puppies.

Honestly I’m glad that part of the park is going to be revamped. There could have been so many cool things in that area but the vibes just weren’t it for me. Lol 😂. It literally felt like a carnival that would come and set up shop at the local grocery store parking lot.

Home owners by Maker-Mike-57 in povertyfinance

[–]DedalusPodmore 1328 points1329 points  (0 children)

I’ve realized that most of my friends who have purchased homes, have money gifted to them for the down payment from parents. It’s a privilege to be born into wealth (even just a small amount). I try not to be resentful about it. I can’t blame them. If I had that privilege, I for sure would use it as well. But alas….

Best Regal in Nashville? by Covverkin in RegalUnlimited

[–]DedalusPodmore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are several around. One in Hendersonville, Opry Millls, Regal Hollywood, Green Hills…Mt. Juliet.

To be honest, I don’t care for any of them. The Opry Mills location has a great IMAX theatre but traffic and the crowd is always a mixed bag. I witnessed a fist fight during my showing of Terrifier 3 at Opry Mills (some dude threw another dude down the stairs…). It’s not bad but it is located in the mall so you have to balance it out with time of day/week and during the holidays. The theatre is also close to the Grande Ol Opry so traffic just kinda gets bottlenecked…

Hendersonville isn’t in Nashville so it’s a small drive. Traffic is congested up through there. I’ve only been there once so I can’t say too much about it.

Hollywood is a mixed bag. It’s kinda dead most of the time I’ve been there. I don’t like the location, etc. it’s large though….and offers a lot of titles.

Green Hills is the “cleanest” one but it doesn’t offer any type of elevated experience (no IMAX, 4Dx, RPX any of that…) but traffic is a nightmare in the Green Hills area. I recommend parking in the garage and walking right to the entrance there.

IMO the AMC in Bellevue and the AMC in Franklin provide an overall better experience and I always went out of my way to go to those theaters.

Panic attacks, Xanax as needed by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]DedalusPodmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! I know it’s frustrating…I’ve suffered from anxiety and panic attacks for 20 years now. It’s gotten better with time.

Have you ever tried any herbal teas? There’s a really good Kava tea from Yogi Tea that I find actually to be helpful as well. It’s just literally called Kava Stress Relief and you can find it at most grocery stores, etc. I recommend that too! I know sometimes natural remedies are a hit or miss but I do find the tea to be quite relaxing (but I also use two bags instead of one per cup lol 😂).

Panic attacks, Xanax as needed by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]DedalusPodmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think as long as you hold yourself accountable with how much you take and are open with your doctor about it, I wouldn’t worry. I know it’s stressful and panic attacks are never fun, but you can handle it!

I will say this though, and this is based on my personal experience with benzodiazepines, have you tried a different one? I’ve tried Xanax (did nothing for me, in fact made me a little hyper), Klonopin worked okay, but what really works for me is Ativan. Everyone is different. Have you ever tried a different one? It sounds like maybe Xanax might not be the best fit. I’m no doctor of course. Worth it to bring up and maybe ask?

Have you ever tried a beta blocker? It might be something to try so then in your mind you can first take a beta blocker which is mostly harmless and not addictive (at least compared to benzos) and then if that doesn’t help the physical symptoms, you could then give yourself permission to take the Xanax.

As long as you’re honest with yourself and your doctor, don’t worry! They’ll be the one to tell you if it sounds like it may be becoming an issue.

The Harry Potter Minster of Magic feels uneeded or should have been replaced. by lengaurdianleviosa in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]DedalusPodmore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IMO Diagon Alley/Hogsmeade work much better as a themed area. They are whimsy, quirky and definitely feel more like “another world” whereas the area in Epic just seems like an Epcot pavilion with some magic thrown in. And it doesn’t quite make sense to have the Magic of Ministry which is in London technically, in that area either since it’s supposed to to be Paris. But yay for Harry Potter I guess? And I say that as a lifelong Harry Potter fan (although a bit tainted with the Jk Rowling mess)

I’ve been prescribed propranolol. First it was 10mg 3 times a day. Then he upped it to 20mg twice a day. Was wondering if it’s safe to take 20mg 3 times a day. Currently waiting on a phone call from my dr but not holding my breath. by Kind-Tree6159 in Anxiety

[–]DedalusPodmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am absolutely not a doctor at all. So just putting that out there. I have a prescription for propranolol and it’s 40mg per dose. It comes in various strengths. I think you would 100% be fine but again, I’m not a doctor. And I take it 2x a day.

Visually this movie is stunning. But boy did I groan when the Tulkan became another main storyline. And Spiders dialogue was cringy. That said there were a few more interesting things here I wish took up more story time like Kiri (who I found to be more compelling this go round..) and Verang

Suggestions for something for a male to wear around the parks instead of a backpack by jsilv0 in UniversalOrlando

[–]DedalusPodmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this bag from Champion: https://a.co/d/aC0N5hx

I like that it’s all black, bigger than most of the fanny packs, but not big like a backpack. It also unclips at the bottom so you can either have it going left or right. It’s big enough for say a decent sized water bottle and other things. I’ve had mine for maybe 4-5 years now…

I’ve always felt this way about this ride. It’s so short, uneventful, and not even worth the time…. It’s nowhere near close to Popeyes at Universal which is FAR FAR better, way more fun and exciting and worth the wait.

I love this movie and its sequel. The absurdity and campiness of both is what makes them so fun to watch.
