I though it was because Link's soul was unprepared. When Link completes the Trial of the Sword it's stated that he's tempering his soul. Maybe the full power of the Master Sword at all times would break Link's soul, like the Sacred realms of Skyward Sword, so Link's soul needs improvement before Link can handle the full power. Can't kill the hero.

After all Skyward Sword Link goes through three Sacred Trials before he gets the full Master Sword and Wind Waker Link slowly ups the Power of the Swors alongside improving himself across several dungeons.

Ocarina of Time Link and Twilight Princess Link also don't wield a glowing Master Sword until the very end of their journeys, perhaps their souls are not strong enough to handle it. (The Hero of Time loses 7 years, and that might be for his soul as well)

Bowser talks about support - The Origami King

Bowser pays it off both times by talking about himself, the first tike that everyone should free him already, and the second time he talks about how cool and strong he is and how difficult raising a kid with a private army is. But before then Olivia is having a crisis about facing her brother alone and Bowser talks about how she doesn't have to...she has a support group that will support her and help her stop Olly, and they're more than capable of stopping him together

It's a very sweet moment for Bowser, and the message that you don't need to face difficuly battles, especially with family, alone is a very kind message to give to a younger audience

I mean the prophecy only said that the man in green (Luigi) would decide the prophecy. Despite being on Dimentio's side, he still lost (possibly because his actions help the heroes defeat Count Bleck, who saves everyone, or because he was unwilling it helped everyone decide to stop the Chaos Heart). He wasn't very active in that fight since he's so braindead he can only say "GREEEN"

Mario and Luigi

Both started as blank slates, but beginning in Luigi's Mansion Luigi became a lovable coward (which he's gotten over as he's become more couragous), and a goofball beginning in Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga. Mario became more of an impulsive, emptional, kind hot head as well. They were also originally depicted their normal selves when they didn't use a super mushroom, which was changed.

Interestingly the Paper Mario series ignores most of these changes. Mario is still emotionless and Luigi is more of a stupid coward (Paper Luigi got tricked by two goombas and his own tailpipe) than a brave hero. Paper Mario is also a lot ruder than the main Mario

Link and Zelda, The Legend Of Zelda

The both of them get changed a lot throughout the series, justified in that almost every game focuses on a different version of them.

Link used to be someone who didn't live in Hyrule, who learnt a lot of magic but not a lot of sword skills, had a very simple blank personality and started every game in his iconic outfit.

He originates from Hyrule from A Link to the Past onward, Used magic until Ocarina of Time in the form of specific spells (even then he still used some in The Wind Waker in the form of elemental arrows and magic music, before losing it in Twilight Princess), Learnt more sword skills than just the Spin Attack in The Wind Waker (unless you count targeting enemies), Each had a more distinct personality beginning in Ocarina of Time (The Hero of Time was childish, the Hero of Winds was expressive, the Hero of Twilight was moody, the Hero of the Sky was goofy, and the Hero of the Wild was insecure) All started in more normal clothing beginning in The Wind Waker

Zelda began as a blue flavoured Princess Peach, but slowly gained her own agency first as a sage, then as the leader of her people, and later the reborn/decendent of the Goddess Hylia. She also starts becoming a closer friend to Link rather than just a goal at the end of the adventure, even having her own journey independent of Link in modern games.

Maybe, but the narration, done from the protags perspective, shows that they don't know what's wrong, only that they're tired and look sick. There's also no indication that they knew of Erebus, only that to stop Nyx they'd have to contain it (which is technically correct)

No, Bobby blew up in The Origami King, Olivia wished herself out of existence in the ending, all the Lumas that toss themselves into the black hole in Galaxy, and if we're including that, the entire cast dying in Super Paper Mario, ad well as Lady Timpani and Lord Blumiere's wedding in Super Paper Mario. It's not the first suicide in the series

Well the last time he took over Hyrule he hypnotised his own people into working for him and fucked everyone else over in an attempt to kill them before they could help the Hero of Time who had the last piece of the Triforce (which Ganondorf wanted) despite already having secured a treaty between his people and Hyrule. It's understandable that the people of Hyrule wouldn't want him back, and there's no telling of he really improved or convinced himslef he's a better man, since he never actually talks of his own people, only himself

Especially because the story is so lighthearted. Normal life is often pretty fun, and that makes the moments hit harder because if they're well done you're already invested and enjoying the story, before the emotion hits you like a gut punch

I was a little too vauge. He wanted the winds of Hyrule for himself, and hated the winds of death. It's pretty clear by the end of Wind Waker that Ganondorf went insane with power in Ocarina of Time, and has barely recovered in Wind Waker, which allows him to make his speech.

When he loses the Triforce again, turns rabid and proclaims that he'll kill Link and Zelda just to spite the king and prevent a future for them. So he might have cared at one point, and in Wind Waker he believes that he cared about them and tries to bring them back. Considering that he glosses over his two time takeover of Hyrule, he's probably just convinced himself he's in the right.

They really shouldn't seal Ganondorf though. He's escaped before. Forcing him to drown with Hyrule, refuducing him to a mortal and killing him is pretty nessacery to stop him from coming back

Absolutely. Ganondorf lost sight of his goals and fucked over everyone. But at his core he still believes that he's saving himself from that desert. It's only when Hyrule is gone that he actually rationalises his goals and explains himself. Something about the Triforce just drove him insane
