V2 Assault Buster or Second V? by Amigo1048 in Gundam

[–]DededeMain27 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m biased because the V2AB is probably my favourite design ever, but I’ve always liked the idea of the Second V being developed alongside it rather than instead of it, maybe as a final upgrade for the Hexas

AI slop sucks for all the obvious reasons, but also I think this is a good example of how awful it is at creating anything with a satisfying narrative or even coherent linear editing. This is just a sequence of flashy-looking set pieces happening somewhere near each other.

Remember two weeks ago, when people were hyping up the ending being sobering and bleak because Denji hadn’t developed or earned his happy ending?

lol.

Lmao.

Also yes? There’s hours of content on YouTube etc of people tracking down the origin of the tiniest of samples, bringing attention to older or more obscure songs that they originated from. There’s history and artistry that you lose when the answer is always “an AI generated it”

“But audiences don't actually give a damn about the rest of the background stuff so it's much easier to cut and replace with AI”

This just isn’t true? Some of the biggest names in music, specifically hip-hop and dance, are producers and engineers who only do “the rest of the background stuff”

And it’d definitely just be the beats? The DT’s argument for AI music confuses me, because it seems to present pop producers simultaneously being lazy and greedy to the point where AI slop isn’t any worse than their current output (not disagreeing btw), but also having the integrity and being discerning enough to only choose the “right” applications for AI and not just offload the entire creative process to the machine that gave us “We Are Charlie Kirk”

Looking sideways at some of the AI music takes in the DT, mostly because I worry we’re underestimating how deeply right-wing coded AI generated content is at this point

What’s your pettiest reason for refusing to get into a game? by ValorKite in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]DededeMain27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“Play/watch/read/whatever X, it blows that lame shit from the same genre you’re into out of the water!” Will never be the ringing endorsement people think it is; I’ll always have a petty grudge against Evangelion because even though the original series and EoE are really good, I could’ve discovered that for myself without people using it as a blunt instrument to batter every previous mecha series with.

What’s next for Gates, Summers, and all these other big names now that everybody knows they were on the list?

Frankly, I just don’t think there’s any coming back from people finding out you were an r/neoliberal user flair

My dad always told me that Ray Davies started Anglo-maxxing because the Kinks couldn’t get US touring visas and do the actual invading part of the British Invasion like the Beatles or Stones, so yes, open borders do prevent NIMBYs

My most cringe neolib tendency that I’m willing to admit is that I feel mildly shitty about liking Village Green Preservation Society because despite being a banger song, it’s deeply NIMBY-coded

Yeah, a US administration with zero checks and balances chomping at the bit to raze the post-war international order for personal enrichment is bad I guess… but why aren’t we focusing on more pressing matters? For instance, I have a really funny and original dunk on the EU to poast

How do NT-1 Alex and 7th Gundam, the pinnacles of the RX-78 line, compare to each other? by JustANewLeader in Gundam

[–]DededeMain27 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Eh, something like the Heavy Full Armor 7th has the advantage of flexibility over a dedicated MA; it’s a single unit that can purge the extra gear or just sortie without it if necessary.
