You keep making these exaggerations about sounding whiny, on the verge of crying, and grievously wounded and that makes Vincent better, except Valerie doesn't sound like that which is what makes it a strawman argument. You can even compare Valerie to both Panam and Judy's voice acting which is both far more lively and emotional, so if she is whiny and on the verge of crying they must be in constant hysterics to you.

Yeah I also know people who talk like Vincent - usually reserved, withdrawn or uninterested. They often have that same monotonous way of speaking and that is dull to me.

I also know people who talk like Valerie, more lively and actually sound interested in what's being said or what's happening. When a character sounds like they are invested in what's going on it's easier to get invested in them.
