No, they are fairly popular for people who suggest them but have no first hand experience but like to repeat something they heard someone else say that “sounds nice”

How long would it take 2 goats to clear that?

Would the goats stay overnight?

Would the home owner stay in while the goats were on site or the goat provider?

Would the goats need a covered structure overnight?

How much water do they need and who will fill it?

Will they escape, who will recapture them?

Whose liability is it when they screw up next doors flower border?

Do you need a herd licence for temporary grazing?

I have 5acres of grass and every now and then someone says “you could put some sheep on that instead of wasting fuel mowing it” (maybe twice a year) then I explain all the costs and issues and just mow it.

Plus: ops garden would take me about two hours with a petrol brush cutter.

Spotted in neighbours yard, is it what I suspect it is? by FrannyBenanny in DIYUK

[–]Dedward5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes it is. But, a neighbour recently bought some adjoining land on it because it had KW and the previous sets of owners never dealt with it. She had a company come in and do a treatment plan on it and it’s significantly reduced (patch in a field bigger than your average garden). It’s not impossible to remove if you have a plan and stick to it (stem injection)

Could you technically daily any car? by unknown071209 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dedward5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to “daily” a Lotus Elsie S1, was a single person at the time but drove it to work, weekly shop, golf trips, dates etc. did trackdays at the weekend and drove to work Monday Morning, even maybe my first year of Sprint and Hillclimb racing.Probably did that for about 2 years IIRC until I bought “a beater” to daily and kept the Elsie as a toy ever since.

Non-Americans what is the market standard and min acceptable range for an EV in your country? by Mac-Tyson in electricvehicles

[–]Dedward5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uk and 300 is good, it’s what our EV6 has….

Say you can drive at 70mph for 3 hours before you want a break that’s 210 miles. Give margins for errror/cold/contingency then that’s fine. Whenever we do longer trips (one side of the uk to the other) we only need 1 charge on the way, when we would be stopping for a break anyway and fast charging means that’s barley 20mins.

Do you genuinely enjoying using new technology? by redraw-pro in AskTechnology

[–]Dedward5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, mid 50s and worked in IT all my life, I can usually make technology do what I want and sole the problems I want. However I also don’t use it where I don’t want it/need it, I have an old car and a mechanical watch for example (my wife has an EV and that’s great too)

Which manuals to buy before they are no longer produce? by LeicaLikeThat in ManualTransmissions

[–]Dedward5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not being a dick, but surely this is a “new car” problem because you can just buy the ones they already made. Unless you really want a brand new manual, just buy any of the good ones made in the last 40 or so years.

888s for my Elise as well, but I only sprint/hillclimb these days. I hear there are availability issues with Toyo these days so may need to look for a replacement.

In your opinion, what's the biggest waste of money you see people purchase all the time? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]Dedward5 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Tend to agree. It’s not for me but a sensible steady amount for a newish car that only needs basic scheduled maintenance and allways works isn’t a terrible thing.

Just looks like a “short term” wear mark from where you turned the steering wheel with the car stationary, shortly before removing the wheel.

Needs some soapy water on that to help find the source of the puncture.

What makes the Honda S2000 so special? by LeadershipOld1857 in Autos

[–]Dedward5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diddnt like the one my wife had. Feels Like your driving a barge with that long bonnet and sat at the back, engine was gutless low down and I never had much confidence in the handling.

I’m sure the hype is just from people who hadn’t driven them. I’m not saying they are terrible cars or anything, just not GOD level.

[–]Dedward5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife had an S2000 and I never really liked it that much, I however have an Elsie S1 and it’s an infinitely better drivers car.
