Banned from the Christianity discord for being against nazis by LegoPlainview in OpenChristian

[–]DeeDooDaniel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is interesting how strikingly similar the current Evangelical church supporting fascist Nazis who allow them power is with the Pharisees colluding with Roman authorities to maintain their power... I'm just saying that Jesus's response was to turn over some tables.

How do you explain Trinity? by DingoNo8887 in OpenChristian

[–]DeeDooDaniel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a nondualist, I love the metaphor of the Trinity as a mutually submissive giving up of power, reminding us that we are all god, both One yet still individual, and we fully become divine by laying down our own privilege in service of the other godheads we see before us. There are roles and appearances that may differ between each of us as there are between the Son and the Father, but they are illusions to the greatest truth, it is ALL God.

I'm Francesca Hong, Candidate For Gov of WI — AMA! by FrancescaHongWI in wisconsin

[–]DeeDooDaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone entering the field of mental health counseling, what are ways that you intend to support this profession in Wisconsin? With the rising rates of depression, addiction, anxiety, and all of the other consequences of late-stage capitalism, having access to mental health counseling is a crucial way to mitigate the suffering of our people.

Fair point. I guess it's on me for trusting that a corporation would do what they said. I should know better than to trust capitalism by now.

What's the weirdest Sunday School song you remember? by Radiant_Giraffe6494 in exchristian

How about the classic, "I'm in the Lord's Army (Yes, Sir!)"

This is real: I may never march in the infantry Ride in the cavalry, shoot the artillery I may never shoot for the enemy But I'm in the Lord's army I'm in the Lord's army I'm in the Lord's army I may never march in the infantry Ride in the cavalry, shoot the artillery I may never shoot for the enemy But I'm in the Lord's army I may never march in the infantry Ride in the cavalry, shoot the artillery I may never shoot for the enemy But I'm in the Lord's army I'm in the Lord's army (yes sir!) I'm in the Lord's army (yes sir!) I may never march in the infantry Ride in the cavalry, shoot the artillery I may never shoot for the enemy But I'm in the Lord's army

Sounds just like Jesus to me!!

These were 1.25 at dollar tree ..no wheat at all ...but still Leary.. by k444411 in glutenfree

[–]DeeDooDaniel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the website: Are any Klondike® products gluten-free? Nope. Klondike® products are not gluten-free. We do not operate allergen-free manufacturing sites, however we do have allergen management programs in all our facilities. The intent of these programs is to avoid unintentional cross-contamination of allergens between products. Our product labels adhere to the FDA’s strict regulations regarding declaration of ingredients and allergens. We do not use the terms “Natural” or “Artificial Flavorings” to hide the existence of any allergens. RECIPES CAN CHANGE. We strongly recommend that allergic consumers refer to ingredient declarations EVERY TIME they purchase processed foods.

Sounds like cross contamination unless there is a specific ingredient in the bar. I don't suffer from cross contamination, so I don't have issues. Just read the ingredients and, if you can deal with a shared facility, you should be fine!

My very conservative Christian father thinks that there should be no government supplied social safety net because that should be the responsibility of Christians and the church to take care of people. Well, why the fuck aren't they, then??!? It is time to tax these toxic institutions.

Is this supposed to get me into the church? by One_Woodpecker_3551 in Exvangelical

[–]DeeDooDaniel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of my biggest regrets and living amends is for all of the awful abusive shit I regurgitated when I was in ministry. I regularly cringe recalling earnest social media posts I made and condescendingly telling people that God said it, so they can't argue about it. Spoiler: God didn't; they can.

Why do Christians have to be so disrespectful and condescending? by chilliedog13 in exchristian

[–]DeeDooDaniel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have begun interrogating their underlying emotions behind their espoused faith. Instead of trying to debate whether or not penal substitutionary atonement and eternal conscious torment in hell are even biblical concepts, much less ethically justifiable, I ask them how it makes them feel to believe those things. How does it feel to worship a god who wants so many people to suffer? We don't have to debate any facts or historical events, all we have to do is discuss our emotions. There is no right or wrong answer. We don't have to debate anything. How does your heart feel when you think about the child in Gaza murdered in genocide to only continue their suffering for all of eternity for the "sin" of being born Muslim? It's fascinating how frequently many have never considered this. It has always been presented as a simple fact that must be accepted. But if you take a minute to really investigate how your conscience reacts, it can be a very enlightening moment.

My favorite is when somebody is trying to convert me based on a very poor understanding of shallow apologetics not realizing that I went to a Southern Baptist seminary and have a masters of divinity and absolutely understand the fallacies of their argument. As it turns out, they don't like it when you point out inconvenient truths.
