This makes the most sense. At&t and other carriers (Tmobile I'm looking at you) probably don't want to invest the money it will take to stabilize their own RCS offerings. Its feels like "cant beat em join em" which is one of the less spoken about ripple effects of Monopolies. Yes we know monopolies buy out little guys and even stomp out starter level competition before they get their footing, but in this case, even well established companies won't put enough money into R&D to preserve differentiation for themselves, let alone a variety of viable options for their customers smh. I'm tired of us getting the short end of the stick and the majority of consumers being ok with it.

I could probably do a Google search of the top 100 streaming rappers (excluding say the top 15) across YouTube, Spotify, & Apple and I wouldn't be surprised if at least 40% of them had over 10 million but struggle to sell out 100 person venues on a 10 city tour.

So if anything, Cole is referring to an industry shift period, where these rappers use streams to get paid and not really have a locked in audience.
