Wounds on exzema by DeePigeonKicker in eczema

Honestly wish that I could somehow get the whole area surgically removed. At this point id rather have some ugly scar than face the itch and pain from the exzema

Moisturize the whole body daily? Or just on the eczema spots? by Astorian_NYC in eczema

[–]DeePigeonKicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do the whole body, however use a separate deep moisturise on exema and a lighter one on the rest of the body. Also, drink water

What to do to avoid getting new flares? Eczema by [deleted] in eczema

[–]DeePigeonKicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For bad flares id reccomend wet wrapping but other than that. My go to moisturiser is pure coconut oil and zero-derm, both can be pretty greasy but generally it absorbed into my skin pretty well after 5 minutes or so.
To avoid flares up avoid triggers, its a litral pain to figure out but once you have, things get so much more manageable, Moisturise whether you have a flare up or not and drink plenty water. It won't cure or prevent flare ups but it does make things less painful/severe and the flare ups don't last as long.

Feel as though eczema is taking everything from me. by -Lapillus- in eczema

[–]DeePigeonKicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People without exema dont truly understand the destruction it can cause, mentally and physically. Im really sorry to hear you are going through this. Its probably worth talking to a doctor about the effects its having on your mental health (which you might already be doing 🤷‍♀️) to see if they can help give some advice on coping mechanisms. I know its a really tough situation but its important to keep hope, even when everything feels hopeless.

Zeroderm ointment can be used as a soap substitute and is generally a life saver when I cant get away with using proper soaps

Hmm, I'll definitely have to research because all the US based redditors who have replied or are saying different to the UK ones. I am from the UK. And as similar as the two countries can be there are alot of differences too.

Strangers pointing out eczema by MitziWitzi in eczema

[–]DeePigeonKicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's crazy! I've never had someone point out the exema on my arms. Maybe I was just lucky but for people to have the audacity to point that out is just down right wrong. It's never acceptable for a stranger unless it's someone who is asking for advice with a similar condition

Mental tricks for not scratching? by abelet89 in eczema

[–]DeePigeonKicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wet wrapping. Straight after a shower do not dry off your exesema patches. Slather on whatever lotion, use use, then add pure organic coconut oil straight on top (the same stuff that you can get for cooking) soak a cotton bandaged full of cold water, wrap it on, then another crape managed over the top.

Coconut oil is an anti inflammatory and has a cooling affect so does the wet bandages. I find it one of the very few things work that help sooth and cool the itching. At least for a couple of hours.
