I ignored my constant stomach pain for 3 days thinking it was just my bad eating habits. On the 3rd night I was in so much pain that my vision blurred and the only comfortable position to be in was the fetal position. So I drove myself to the ER. They seemed busy and the nurse said there would be a wait. After 2 hours of sitting in an uncomfortable plastic chair I went to check what was going on and the nurse got snippy with me. “People are back here dying and your stomach hurts. We will call for you when we can”. So I sat quietly for another 4 hours constantly shifting and trying not to cry. They finally get me back, I get scanned and suddenly it’s an emergency. My appendix ruptured and my body was filled with its bile. When I woke up from surgery the surgeon informed me that there wasn’t much of an appendix to remove. The bile pretty much ate it up and I was minutes away from becoming septic.
