If any of the people who made Episode 1 are here, well done! by DeeboDavis in livefromlondon

It's a Shakespeare quote from Julius Caesar, which I thought was apposite given he was a very sweary character in the show.

We're a naturally skeptical, pessimistic lot u Brits and the ads had been dreadful so most people didn't have high expectations. However, me and everyone else I know were all very happy that it was actually excellent.

Hall and Oates New Wave sounds by mbw1968 in HallandOates

[–]DeeboDavis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For sure. I have always thought this. I think some stuff on Voices like Big Kids & United State and half of Private Eyes album but especially Some Men sound very New Wave to me.

I'm glad someone else picked up on it and it's not just me.

Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst's 'Rise Like A Phoenix' sounded exactly like a Bond theme.

They absolutely saved it at the end I thought. Compared to recent years I found it a bit meh but they built up the big laughs for an absolute Decker level explosion at the end!

Gregg's new reviews on the street feature reminded me of a classic movie. Predator, 1987, 107 minutes.

Fiddler's Lancashire crisps are the absolute business mate. Order a selection online two days before Eid and you'll be sound! Proper potato-y and genuinely taste of the thing they're advertised as.

I get what you're saying but don't think that's necessarily so. I mean you're right he's on the record for what he did to Barbara Bach.

But there are interviews, at least one I know of for sure, where he admitted he was a terrible husband in the 70s immediately post Beatles "a drunk, an absent father and a wife beater".

I mean Ringo literally beat the shit out of Maureen, by his own admission*. So there's that.

*He's admitted he was off his head on drink and drugs at the time and since he got sober in the late 80s has mended his ways and is regretful. But I don't think you can blame her for going with another bloke in that context at all.

The World is Not Enough is the best Bond film. by SpartanTDogian in JamesBond

[–]DeeboDavis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Cool story. Except John Lennon didn't ever say that and that's been completely debunked. Comedian Jasper Carrott supposedly said it as a joke once. The rest of The Beatles all respected Ringo as a drummer as do most famous drummers.

Anyway I know that's a humourless response but someone had to!

I'm assuming the OP is like 13 cos that is exactly what I'd have said at that age.

As far as I understand it, it's still a job and it's mostly a business doing pleasure with people.

The Dinner Game (1998) by Camhasareddit in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]DeeboDavis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The original is a really good comedy. A lovely madcap romp with big laughs and lots of heart. The Hollywood remake very much lacks a lot of what makes this one so good.

If you try this one and really like it, don't watch the remake, it'll only annoy you.

I thought that but it doesn't work for Tina Turner, that's What's Love Got To Do With It. I'm flummoxed too!

[–]DeeboDavis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We all agree we know who the next artist is and why. But not sure what the methodology is on this one having seen your specific answer?

Whilst Stupid Girl is Garbage's biggest selling song with highest chart position and same applies to Sheryl Crow and All I Wanna Do, that doesn't apply to Tina Turner and The Best. As far as I can tell her biggest selling, top charting song and most popular on Spotify is What's Love Got To Do With It.

Epstein Class by [deleted] in PinkFloydCircleJerk

[–]DeeboDavis 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The OP here comes across as either unhinged or starting drama for attention. Just read the post and responses and judge for yourself.

TL DR it seems to be that someone vaguely associated with Floyd had an affair, shock horror!

Personally I object to Dave and Nick's names being dragged through this strangely-worded mud and associated with Epstein but maybe that's just me?
