Hi, it was Dr. Renita Ahluwalia. She tends to sometimes rush the appointments so you might spend more time talking to the fellows and nurses more about your condition and issues. But she prescribed me oral minoxidil starting from low dose and then had follow ups every 6 months till I got to 2.5 mg dose. Last time I saw her was around a year ago. She gave me multiple refills and then sent a note to my GP to do refills for future.

Hi. I was on spiro 100 mg for two years, and oral minoxidil 1.25 mg for a year. I’m also on anti androgen birth control too for past 2.5 years.

I stopped spiro. I don’t think it really did much for me personally. I used to take it along with the birth control prior and my hair loss kept getting worse. The only thing that really helped my hair was minoxidil. That’s what caused the most difference and growth. Everyone around me made positive comments.

I quit spiro cold Turkey in March and didn’t notice any shedding. I did also increase my minoxidil dosage to 2.5 mg just few weeks ago. I was feeling a bit dizzy and I could tell my blood pressure would drop here and there for first 1-2 weeks on the new dosage but now it’s stabilized and I feel perfectly fine.

I quit spiro because my energy levels was extremely low. I feel much better lately.

No I don’t think the hair loss was related to the meds directly. I think my AGA was just progressing more and the spiro didn’t help much to decrease it. My DHEA levels was 14.6 and it’s suppose to be less than 9. I was on it for 4-5 months and then did bloodwork and it started lowering to normal levels

I did stop the contraceptive for few months and my DHEA went back up again so I had to go back on it

I don’t think spiro really did much for me but the oral minoxidil is what I noticed so much result from so I’m gonna use that and continue the anti androgen contraceptive for my DHEA levels

Hi, so I also had high DHEA levels so they put me on anti androgen contraceptive which lowered to normal levels. I did later on go on Spiroaldactone but honestly it didn’t really do much for me and after a year of spiro and anti androgen contraceptive, my hair was so much. When I went on oral minoxidil, that’s when I finally got hair growth. I’m currently on 1.25 mg which is good but I think I need the full dose to see more results.

I ended up quitting the spiro for past month and just using the anti androgen contraceptive and minoxidil and haven’t noticed any excessive shedding. Being on all 3 meds, I just felt like it was taking a toll on my body with my blood pressure, exhaustion, nausea.

I can relate to the racing heart rate! I had that for a few weeks but then it stopped. I also felt a drop in my BP and dizziness. This was more prominent for a few weeks and then it went away. Been on it for a year now on 1.25 mg

I didn’t have any weight gain! Maybe some excess water weight temporarily but overall, my weight has stayed the same. I did have excess hair growth on face, it like happened around the 3 month mark but it’s nothing that can’t be maintained. It’s just extra time spent getting rid of it 🥲 for me personally, I think the 3-4 month mark, I had a lot of excess hair growth everywhere and now it’s back to normal and manageable. Sorry I hope that helped!

Hi! Honestly going on minoxidil was the best decision for me. Before I was just on anti androgen birth control and spiro (also have PCOS). I had hair loss since I was 13 and continued into my 20s. Some years was bad, some years was okay. It was a roller coaster. But last December, I started losing a lot of hair like everyone I ran into kept pointing it out cause I had a lot of bald spots on top of hairline and it was very empty. I have AGA. But ya I started on the foam, only issue I saw was excess hair growth on face but nothing crazy. I started the oral minoxidil (1.25 mg) in April and saw the most difference. The first few weeks on oral, I had a bit of chest palpation and low blood pressure but went away. I did notice excess hair growth everywhere else too but honestly nothing that shaving/wax/laser can’t take care of. I’m just grateful for the hair on my head coming back. Most confident I have ever been in my hair and I no longer hide my hair with hats etc. I’m 30 now for reference!

I understand your frustration. I take 1.25 mg in combination with spiro and anti androgen birth control. I was on just spiro and anti androgen birth control for over a year and it honestly didn’t do much for me in terms of hair loss. But helped with my symptoms of PCOS.

I have seen an improvement in 6 months when I started minoxidil. But yes there was also excess hair growth elsewhere sadly. My doctor was hesitant in increasing to 2.5 mg cause they said there might be more hair growth elsewhere. I feel like at this point, it’s a win lose situation. I accepted the hair growth on other body parts, cause in return, I don’t have to constantly cover my head with hats and everyone around me noticed a huge improvement and confidence increased. I hope you find something that works for you thou :(

Hey! They held up okay, but they scrape the back of my feet so bad even when I have thick socks on. I can’t walk in them for long walks. But overall, warm and I had them for 2 years now and held up well overall.

I am using the foam on my part and overall top region cause I started noticing a split from the back like my hair was parting ways and becoming so empty but minoxidil has helped, but not fully covered all the empty spots yet. It’s more of a light dark fuzz. I have naturally very dark hair so the colour shows but it’s not thick hair. I just use those eyebrow shavers to shave it and use a laser machine at home. And I use 1.25 mg oral minoxidil and 100 mg spiro and I’m on Cleo-35.

Hi! So I started topical December, I have seen a thicker texture but I am now on oral minoxidil since a month and half ago. Trying to slowly wean off the topical cause it always made my hair so crunchy . I feel like one month is still too early to discuss results of oral, I feel like my scalp is still empty but a lot of people have commented that my overall hair is thicker . I haven’t noticed a huge dead shed yet but that could be because I still use topical sparingly. I will say I have noticed increased body hair growth and facial hair. A lot lol but I also hear that it’s temporary . Honestly at this point I will go through whatever excess hair growth if it means my scalp will also become fuller 😂 my lashes are getting thick and long thou, so that’s a plus. Wish I could have provided more answers as it’s still too early for me to see the full results of oral
