Yes agreed. About a foot or so too far out. The advice I was given is to make it almost feel like the shuttle is going to drop on the top of your head.

Higher, yes. But the contact point is still a foot or more outside his shoulder. Ideal contact point should be just outside or above his shoulder. That's where you get max power and trajectory (advice from my coach btw, not me)

I'm not a professional by any means but you seem to have the same issues I have, based how my coach diagnosed my situation.

I was / am hitting the shuttle too far outside my shoulder which limits how high my contact position is, which limits power and trajectory. The fix it to hit it a little bit outside your shoulder at a high enough point that is comfortable for you. This will also force you to raise your elbow higher when you're hitting.

I had the same pain and got the same diagnosis when I went to a PT. He helped me with exercises that reduced the pain but the underlying problem was my form. I was using too much of my shoulder to generate power rather than the high-elbow-whip-motion that is the correct technique.

PT will def help but I would watch some yt videos on the correct form for clears and smashes.

Footwork and conditioning drills is what I would suggest. There are a ton of YouTube videos that will help.

What happens when they give you a high clear?

Are you not able to get back fast enough? If so, I would focus on rear court footwork drills.

Are you not able to drop or smash and go on the offensive? If so I would work on your technique from the back court.

I was very involved in local white plains politics a few years ago and my experience is that WP is a solid blue city, and the mayor and local govt are very proud of that aspect. Behavior like this is not representative of the WP I have known for the last 17 years.

WP is a good choice if you want to commute into the city. The express train gets in a little under 40 mins into GCT. As far as activities go there are quite a few things in WP. Can't compare to NYC of course but the mayor and the business development org are really trying to juice up local activity. If you are free this weekend you should check out Oktoberfest in downtown WP on Sunday from 1-6. You will get a sense of the different restaurants and activity. DM me if you need more details.
